Rising Son Catamaran Swim & Snorkel

Board the Rising Son II for Bermuda's ultimate sailing experience. Lounge in the roomy shaded cockpit, or lie out on one of the huge trampolines. Sip complimentary beverages as you cruise by the old remains of Bermuda fortifications. Chat with the crew about Bermuda's past and present as you cruise toward beautiful and secluded swim sites. These sites are hidden among a chain of islands in Mangrove Bay, one of Bermuda's most remote coastal regions. The catamaran will anchor in six feet of water, where you may choose to swim up to the nearby beach, kayak or kick around with the crew's snorkel gear. After 1 1/2 hours of playtime, you'll be welcomed back aboard for unlimited complimentary Rum Swizzles. Let the island music get you into the vacation spirit as you head out for another hour of true catamaran sailing. Note: Participants must weigh no more than 300 lbs., be good swimmers, and in good health. Bring sunscreen, a towel and a hat. This tour is not recommended for infants. Guests should be able to walk short distances without assistance. The location for swimming may vary depending on weather conditions. A full cash bar is available. Gear is included.

Doing It Again
Went on this excursion last year with a friend, we had a wonderful time. The crew was great and being out on the catamaran was so relaxing to me.
I just booked another cruise for this year for myself and my daughters. I plan on booking this excursion again also. I think it will be a wonderful and easy going first experience for the both of them.
Can't wait to do this again.

Fun and Cheap
A great excursion and very inexpensive! You get a short sail around the bay are given some facts about the island that takes about 45min. Then the boat brings you to a small beach where you can snorkel, swim, kyack and paddle board. This is not a trip for small children or for people who cannot swim well.

My family and I just returned back from our cruise to Bermuda. I wanted to make sure I went back on NCl and posted my review. This shore excursion was worth the money. I traveled with three children (11, 11, and 9) and was not sure the trip would work for them but the crew, the sight and the boat was perfect. The crew was made up of young and responsible 20 somethings. They were respectful, friendly and very knowledgeable. On the ride to the cove one crew member talked to us about the island and his experiences growing up there. Once at the cove we got off the boat and used their equipment (Masks, snorkels & Fins) to explore the reefs. We saw a ton of fish up close and also got to enjoy the kayaks and standing paddle boards. The cruise ended with rum drinks for all (and juice for the kids) It was not a crazy rum party but rather people unwinding together after an afternoon of fun. If you were hesitant about booking this adventure - do not be. I think it meets the needs of most vacationers. It was a perfect afternoon for us in Bermuda.

Disappointed
We went on this excursion a couple of weeks ago. When we got to the cove, the bottom, which was down about 2-3ft, had several aluminum cans that had been sliced open and were facing up, along with bits of glass, and glass bottles. My son and I picked up the trash and brought it back to the boat to be recycled, so nobody would get cut while in the water. By this point, my son's friend was already back in the boat. As soon as my son and I went back out to snorkel, he saw the guide dump the trash back into the water. After we had spent most of the time cleaning it up.
On the way back, they gave rum swizzle to everyone on the boat. I'm pretty sure that not all of the people that got rum swizzle were 18. They tried to give rum swizzle to my son's friend, who had turned 16 a week earlier, without even asking his age. They didn't check any IDs.
We were quite disappointed with this excursion. I would definitely not recommend this excursion.

Excellent Bang for Your Buck!
My boyfriend and I were looking for the best option as a excursion and the review for this adventure seemed consistent so we gave it a try. This excursion was loads of fun and very interesting. The boat was clean and neat and the crew was excellent. Mario, the skipper, was so nice and was so eager to share his knowledge about the island with us. Even though we didnt have the best of weather, we sailed out using the motor and went to a location that was good for snorkling. All the equipment was clean and new for us to use. We were able to snorkle for about an hour before returning to the catamaran. Next, unlimited rum swizzles were served. On the way back to the Gem, the sails were raised and we slowly made our way back to the ship. Skipper Mario really made this trip worthwhile for us because we learned many fun facts about Bermuda and it was a really fun way to spend part of our trip in Bermuda. I would HIGHLY recommend this shore excursion to anyone who is looking to sail the crystal blue waters of Bermuda and experience some adventure with your family and friends!

Third time and still Great
We were glad to take the Rising Son Catamaran cruise from King's Wharf again. The captain and crew are very knowledgeable about the sea life and coral that is Bermuda. They provided history and explanation of the island and the life in the waters that surround as we sailed to a cove for some exploring. The team were quick to point out that the fish are not on the pay roll so there was no telling what we would see. We did some some varieties of fish and coral. There was also time for enjoying a small private beach, kayaking, and exploring. The sail back was also entertaining and beverages, rum punch, juice, and water were served. This was my third time taking this tour. Every time it is different and we will do it again when we return.

Fun Boat Ride, Disappointing Marine Life
This tour is a good value. The guides were friendly and gave some interesting facts about Bermuda. Would've liked to hear more stories though. The boat ride was lovely on the way to the snorkel location and back. I was a little disappointed by how few fish I saw. This was my first snorkel experience, so I guess I was expecting bright, colorful fish, inches away from me. Instead, they were sand colored (hard to see), and most were smaill. The rum swizzles on the way back were delicious.
