Hartley's helmet diving tour requires no lessons or swimming skills and offers more than just a look at marine life. Board the dive vessel Rainbow Runner for a cruise to the dive site, less than two miles off shore, where you'll spend 30-35 minutes on your helmet dive. Your hair stays dry in the helmet and you can even wear contacts! At the reef, you'll climb down a nine-foot ladder to the sandy ocean bottom 10 feet down. Once on the sea bed, your ever-present guide, Greg Hartley, will point out and identify marine life like Diana the angelfish, Charles the hogfish, Herb the red hind, and Leroy the grey snapper. Your helmet, which works like a glass turned upside down, has three large flat windows and will allow you to enjoy the magnificent coral scenery. Upon conclusion of your dive, enjoy a scenic boat trip back to your ship. The trip is 3 1/2 to 4 hours depending on the number of divers. Note: Participants must be at least 5 years of age, weigh no more than 290 lbs. and must be able to navigate a dive ladder in and out of the water. Wear your bathing suit and bring a towel. We recommend you bring a dry change of clothes. This tour is not recommended for guests with breathing difficulties, cardio/circulatory illness, or claustrophobia. There are complimentary dry snacks, hot chocolate or a fruit drink. Full length wet suits available when water is less than 80° degrees Fahrenheit.
