St. John Champagne Catamaran Sail & Snorkel

Your relaxing fun-filled day begins with a short scenic ride to a quaint marina where you'll board the catamaran. At the marina dock your friendly crew will greet you and acquaint you with the vessel. Glide along the eastern end of the island before setting sail to the most pristine of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The brisk sail across Pillsbury Sound brings the catamaran to its special mooring destination where you can swim on a beautiful St. John beach, snorkel, or simply relax under the palms. Enjoy freshly baked breads, cheeses, fruits, and a variety of beverages onboard. Champagne and other beverages are complimentary after swimming and snorkeling. After your relaxing stay at the beach, delight in the tropical breezes as you make the downwind return sail to St. Thomas. Note: Wear your swimsuit, bring a towel and sunscreen. Participants must be able to navigate a six-step ladder through a hatchway to access the restroom on board. There are several steps required to enter and exit the water. Guests entering the water must be able to reboard the vessel without assistance. Alternate snorkel site may be used based on weather and sea conditions. Snorkeling equipment including snorkel vest, professional instruction, and supervision are provided. Alcoholic beverages are served after snorkeling. Participants must be at least 21 years old to consume alcohol.

Excellent Adventure!
The best excursion you will ever take. Captain Eddie and crew Gavin and Molly were sensational. They explained about the sites and history of St Thomas and what we would see once we got to St John. I didnt snorkel but my husband did and he said it was amazing! I lounged on the catamaran and once we were on our way back, they served munchies, soda, rum punch and beer. The crew was fantastic and the music and scenery superb. Go if you can. Not to be missed.

Super Snorkel
We liked that this excursion offered the snorkeling and beach access. The crew (Molly, Joe, & Ryan) were enjoyable, mingling with the group, and sharing some area history and highlights. Snorkeling was good - over 1hr in the water. This was an overall fun excursion that provided a beautiful view of the island(s) from the ocean side, some good snorkeling, and relaxing sailing. We would do this again.

Best Excursion Ever
Our group of 17 sailed on the Adventuress the week of March 2nd while on the Epic. Theresa, Kim and Grady were amazing. We had one of the best excursions we have ever had. We would highly recommend this excursion. When visiting St Thomas in the future we would definitely book this excursion again. Thank you to the crew of the Adventuress for a great memory!

Excellent Excursion
We loved this excursion. The team on the catamaran! Gave a great tour. Well worth the time and the money paid for the excursion. The snorkel location was beautiful. Lots to see and experience. The rum/drinks on the way back weren't bad either :)

Marine Life, Beverages, Crew and Boat
I am SO glad that we checked out this excursion. We had a cool crew, Grady, Michelle, Kirsten? (I may have gotten the names wrong) who served us some great rum punch and Champagne and made sure to keep it flowing. Best part was snorkeling in the bay by St. John's Island and swimming alongside beautiful Hawksbill sea turtles. If you stay near the sea grass, you're bound to see several little sea turtles and my fiancé spotted a sting ray coasting along the bottom. If you head closer to shore and go near the rocks, there are crazy amounts of coral and rock formations, schools of mesmerizing little fish, exotic fish, flounder, and I probably would have seen more if I'd had an extra fifteen minutes (the water is warmer than the air on this day, but you still can get a chill and 35 minutes is enough). I saw people getting out on the beach and approaching some wild donkey, which I couldn't fathom. Watch out for spiky sea urchins in the sand near the shore. They are devastating if you accidentally nick yourself on one, and they LOOK devastating. As another note, the ride over was a little windy, as again, we had storms coming through and I was drenched before I hit the water with the lent snorkeling gear. About our crew: these kids were out of Cali, MD, and Florida and they were great to observe and listen to-their instructions were clear, funny, and purposeful. Very fun crew. I had to buy a shirt and give them a big tip because this trip was totally worth it. I was sad to leave, but giddy with a nice buzz.

forget the professional snorkeling instruction!
This one was horrible, Captain was extremely put out. He acted like he had better things to do. Absolutely no professional snorkeling instruction, jump off the cat and you're on your own. And god forbid you should ask for any instruction. That was why we signed up for this one as it was our first stop of 5, so we thought we would get "snorkel instruction as stated in the description". The only instruction we got was the drinking part after. The Cat was extremely over crowded, couldn't even walk around. Stay away if you want to snorkel. If you just want to drink, this one is for you!

Be prepared
If you choose to snorkle, you can either jump off the boat in 25 feet of water or a dingy will bring you to the beach so you can ease into it if you've never done it before or if you are not a strong swimmer. YOU ONLY HAVE ONE HOUR to snorkle. The rest of the time, you are sailing to and from St. John. The description of this excursion which reads: "Enjoy freshly baked breads, cheeses, fruits, and a variety of beverages onboard..." sounds wonderful and sort of exotic. It isn't. It's ordinary store-bought bread and ordinary store-bought cheese that the crew cut out of packages and put on a metal pan lined in aluminum foil. My husband snorkled, I stayed on the boat so I saw the food "prepared." This was a fun experience, but it certainly didn't live up to the the description provided for this excursion. The crew was fun and for the cost, it was okay. But, don't expert an exotic excursion. It's ordinary. I was a bit disappointed.

Great Trip
We just returned from this cruise, 2-5-13. we did the snorkel trip and the staff were great, they were 3 young Americans 2 women and a young man that were entertaining, informative and experienced. the trip was great. The only down side was the ignorant bus driver that ordered us to sit 5 to a seat and sign the release (gotta love lawyers and being a US territory they must be able to sue for stupid stuff) So no ride without a release!! but the driver was nasty and gave a bad first impression. but don't let that dissuade you take this trip!!!!!

An average excursion, a little over priced
We found this excursion to be a little over priced due to the fact that we only had an hour at honeymoon beach to snorkel/relax. We felt that this was not enough time to fully take advantage of the surroundings and certainly not enough time based on how expensive the trip was. The snorkelling was average, we did see one sea turtle and some colourful fish but the sea wasn't as clear as I expected it to be. The crew were fun and very friendly, however most of the trip back was spent with them trying to sell us their tshirts - done in a friendly, fun way but we wanted a fun/relaxing journey back to enjoy the surroundings not a sales pitch. We were served champagne and rum punch on the way home with some snacks of bread cheese and fruit but it was nothing special. I booked this trip as my husband and I were on our honeymoon and thought this would be a very luxurious/romantic excursion judging by it's title but we were very underwhelmed by it and it wasn't romantic at all. Honeymoon beach where we stopped was no where near as beautiful as many of the other caribbean beaches i have been to. It is very small and not much to see at all and the see was no where near as clear or blue as I expected it to be. I would not recommend this trip as you can easily get yourself to more beautiful beaches than this one and be able to spend more time there!

Meh!
After reading the tour description, I was really expecting so much more. The total time on St. John was less than an hour, with about 40 minutes in the water (with my own equipment). You ride in an open air vehicle across the island (about 45 min each way), which takes up about a third of the trip. If you want to go for the snorkeling, I would do another trip. If you want to go for the booze, they have plenty and you'll probably have a great time. The boat was really nice, and the downwind sail back to the dock was good, as well. They had us back in town by 1:30, which is great if you want to shop, but leaves a lot of time on the table if you wanted to spend the day at St. John.

Great!
Well organized, informative and relaxing. Your safety was the crew's priority. Captain John and the crew made you feel like part of the family and made you feel right at home both on the catamaran and in the water. A wide variety of wildlife such as barracuda, sea turtles and sting rays make this a must-do for you and your family.

Awesome
We were on this excursion Nov. 14, 2012.
Our journey started with a 20 minute ride from the ship to the sail boat. Our crew was Eddie, Two-Tone and Molly. They were very informative and helpful. The crew did a great job of providing an entertaining atmosphere while still keeping it PG for those with kids on board (like us). During the trip over the crew provided quite a bit of historical information about St. Thomas and the surrounding islands.
During our snorkel we saw multiple species of fish along with a couple of Sea Turtles and Stingrays. The rock/reef area to the right of the beach provided the best marine life viewing. I would go there first. The beach area was nice as well.
Our boat served some bread and cheese along with some excellent rum punch on the way back. You may want to bring some snacks if that won’t hold you over til you return to the ship. The sail back was about 45 minutes so you will have plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and few rum punches.

Fantastic Experience
Having read the reviews prior to booking this excursion we determined this looked like the best option for what we were looking to do in St. Thomas. I have to say that it exceeded my expectations as Joe and Molly were great and provided us a fantastic day. They made it fun with a blend of humor and information that made it a great time on the boat and snorkeling. Excellent value for the money and great people, Thank you!!

Great Time
We had quite an exciting shuttle ride up and down and around to the marina where we boarded the catamaran. They only took about 30 people per boat, so it was not overcrowded. The crew, especially Garron, were extremely entertaining and fun. We were unable to go to the originally planned beach area due to currents, so went to Christmas Cove for snorkeling and/or beach time. Absolutely beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion and can highly recommend it whether you snorkel or not.

You have to do this one!!!!!
Apparently there is minimum that I can type for my review which is a shame because I just can not say enough about this wonderful excursion. I'm so very happy that we did this. In a nut shell ...Crew is very entertaining They make the safety briefing short sweet and funny. Demonstrations on how to use the equipment are equally humorous. The 3 crew mates are from the United States. They will entertain you with interesting current and relevant facts about St. Thomas and St. John. They keep the sailing party small in comparison to others. The crew were very attentive and helpful and made first timers feel at ease. It was not hard to get off or back on. Where we snorkeled...beautiful, secluded and with only one other CAT there. So maybe 50 ppl total swimming around in a huge area, safe from other motor-craft. We saw turtles, sting rays and a barracuda along with the norm.

BEST NCL shore excursion
This was my favorite NCL shore excursion I ever took. My wife and I along with our 2 kids loved this excursion. The catamaran was extremely big and clean. The crew were amazing. They briefed us about the catamaran and our excursion before we left the dock. They sized us with flippers, masks and snorkels as we sailed to St. John and gave us a funny, education tour of the area and islands. The crew were warm, entertaining and extremely professional. When we stopped at St. John the crew gave us 3 options. 1.... jump in and swim and snorkel. 2......walk into the water off the ladder or 3..... they will take you in their dingy right to the beach. I jumped into the water and began snorkeling. My wife and kids took the dingy. They were brought right to the beach where they were able to put in equiptment and ease their way into the water. The beach and water were gorgeous. We saw plenty of fish, rays and turtles. On the ride back they provided cheese, bread, fruit and snacks along with champagne, rum punch, soda, juice, water and beer. We absolutely loved this excursion and can't wait to get to St Thomas to do it again! There were people of all ages on this tour, a bunch of kids and mostly adults. The catamaran probably holds about 50 people. we had about 40 and never had to wait, everything was prepared, planned out and perfect!

A Great Time
This was our favorite excursion ever, out of four Norwegian cruises. The crew, Nate and Val, were fantastic....entertaining, friendly, helpful and informative. The beaches in St John are gorgeous! So much better than fighting the crowds in St Thomas. The ride back to St Thomas was a blast, with champagne and rum punch flowing!
