St. John Beach Escape

Remarkably clear, the waters of St. John need to be seen to be believed. This is your opportunity to board a ferry for a short cruise through Pilsbury Sound to St. John. Upon arrival, you'll board an open-air safari taxi for a relaxing ride to Trunk Bay, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to view and photograph spectacular sights alongside the Caribbean Sea. Enjoy approximately one-and-a-half hours at beautiful Trunk Bay to swim, snorkel, sunbathe, or just relax under swaying palm trees. Afterward, you'll reboard your transport and take a short trip back to Cruz Bay, if time permits, you can do a little shopping as you wait for the scenic return ferry cruise to St. Thomas. Note: This tour originates in St. Thomas and goes directly to St. John by way of an approximately 45-minute ferry ride each way

disappointing
This is my 8th cruise, 3rd trip to Trunk Bay. I was very disappointed with this excursion, as I had been looking forward to sharing this excursion to St. John's with some friends who had never been there. The ferry ride was fine, but the pilot was difficult to understand. Taxi ride to Trunk Bay was the best part...very nice ride with an informative narrative. The beach @ Trunk Bay was extremely crowded, we had less than 1 hr. @ the beach, then hustled back to dock to wait almost 40 minutes for ferry back to St. Thomas! Shore excursion desk sent a bottle of wine to rooms when we complained, but I would like to let others know this trip is not what it used to be or what it is advertised to be!

Disappointing
After leaving our ship we waited about 25 minutes standing in tropic sun at the dock for the ferry to get us. The descriptions of "short ferry cruise" and "relaxing open-air taxi" to the beach were deceiving. Once we got to the beach it was very beautiful but not nearly enough time there to fully enjoy both swimming and snorkeling. The return trip to the ship was just as frustrating as we again waited at the dock in St. John for the ferry. It should have been waiting for us, not us waiting for the ferry.

Great Scenery, No Snorkeling
Took this tour a week after hurricane Sandy passed by, so the water was very murky (couldn't see anything snorkeling) and waves pretty big (but fun). Beach was pretty, but fairly shallow as tide was rolling in, so we hiked a ways down for some privacy.

Wonderful Excursion
We just came off the Jewel from this trip to the Southern Caribbean. This excurion was one of the best beach and snorkel excursions we have ever been on. This site is a national park of the Virgin Islands. It was extrememly clean and no one on the beach trying to sell you something. There were nice bathrooms and changing areas as well. We took a boat from the ship to St. Johns Island. Very nice ride and then a bus to the beach. This was a nice ride as well. The people on the boat and on the bus were very plesent and happy. Dave, the guide at the park.beach was very nice and explained everything to us. My wife does not snorkel and she had a wonderful time on the beach and in the water. The snorkeling area was very nice and since it is a national park, there were markers under the water which explained to you interesting facts about the coral and the tropical fish. We had enough time to snorkel until we were tired and then spend some time on the beach or just in the water. I would recommend this trip to anyone. Great experience!
