Trogir & Beach

Your tour starts with a drive toward the town of Trogir, situated in a small island sandwiched between the mainland and the larger island of Ciovo, connected to the mainland by a bridge. The narrow streets of this compact town fan out in disarray from an ancient central square with stone buildings evoking life in the old days. As you walk the ancient streets, you'll see magnificent buildings such as the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, probably the finest example of sacral architecture in Croatia, with a world famous 13th century portal, carved by a local artist. After some free time, continue toward Medena Hotel Beach & Resort, only 7 kilometers from Trogir. Your tour includes access to the changing rooms and showers only, but there are sun beds and umbrellas available for rent. Here you'll spend approximately three hours at leisure to take in the activity of your choice. The gravel beach is located 150 meters from the main hotel complex and can be reached by taking the concrete path or a stairway through the thick pine woods. The hotel beach offers countless possibilities for entertainment and recreation. From classic sports content, they offer 6 clay tennis courts, mini golf, fitness training course through the pine woods, a five-a-side football court, a volleyball court, a basketball court and a beach volleyball court. Your youngest family members can enjoy the children's animation and a variety of offers at the children's playground. For a boost of adrenaline, try some of the various water sports: Jet Ski, parachuting, tuba, banana boat, waterskiing, surfing and sailing. All these activities are at an additional cost. You can have a snack or full lunch in one of nearby beach bars at your own expense. Note: This tour will not be available for the Norwegian Jade April 21st, 2012 or October 15th, 2012 sailings; price includes access to changing rooms and showers. Please bring towel from the ship. During summer months expect extreme heat, crowded venues and long lines. We recommend that you wear comfortable shoes, proper sun protection and bring bottled water. This tour is not suitable for guests with walking difficulties; there is over 1 mile of walking over cobblestones and gravel.

Avoid This Beach
The Trogir tour part of this tour was fantastic, great tour guide... could have used much more time to check out the old city on our own. Do not expect a sandy beach! This beach at the Medena Resort is not worthy of the name "beach". A rocky coastline, must pay to use the beach chairs, not included in the price of the tour. No proper dressing rooms, either. If you want to use the bathroom, make sure you purchase food/drink from a nearby cafe and ask for the key to use the toilet.
The worst part was that both of my kids cut themselves on rocks in the water within 5 minutes of swimming here. Blood everywhere, luckily one of the cafe owners brought out his first aid kit and cleaned up the wounds.
If you must go in the water, make sure you are wearing water shoes! Even then, you can cut your foot right through the material.
NCL should have warned us what this beach was like. Instead, we wasted 3+ hours of our trip on a useless "beach".
Take the tour of Trogir with another side trip, not this one!
