Glacier Discovery By Helicopter
Experience the beauty of Alaska, as you fly over jagged peaks towering over the Chilkat Glacier, cascading waterfalls surrounding the Ferebee Glacier, or the spectacular 'river of ice' known as the Meade Glacier. Flight routes and landing zones are selected daily to ensure that you receive the best the area has to offer. Once you've reached your destination, you'll be given the opportunity to explore and enjoy a walking tour of a lifetime. Note: Participants must be able to enter and exit the helicopter with limited assistance as well as walk for short distances on uneven and slippery surfaces. Flight time is approximately 40 minutes with approximately 40 minutes on the glacier. This tour is non-refundable. Guests 250 lbs. and over are charged an additional rate to reserve two seats for safety and comfort. These spaces are capacity controlled. You will not be able to book this option online. Please call 1.866.625.1167 for assistance with these reservations. Approximate weight of each participant must be provided. Time spent on the glacier is approximate and may vary due to weather and glacial conditions. Glacier boots are provided at the heliport. Jaw dropping beauty!
This excursion is one of the reasons we have done the Alaskan cruise twice and plan to go again! We first went in July. Days are longer, more time in port, more whales... in short, this is the time to go on the Alaskan cruise. Our second attempt for this helicopter excursion was in May two years later and we were snowed out...something that is more likely to happen early in the season.
I am Very nervous about heights...so much so that I asked a male friend to knock me out if it looked like I was going to have a panic attack. No worries, the pilot inspires the utmost confidence and the views are so amazing with a running commentary from the pilot I was too interested to be scared.
We flew over the summer training camp for the dog teams which were lines of ants far below and landed on a glacier for a closer look. The ice really IS that blue!
This excursion was our "splurge" especially since my husband and his friend were over the weight limit and we had to pay a premium but it is worth every cent.

This excursion was probably the highlight of my trip! It is definitely pricey, but absolutely worth it if you can afford it. While I have amazing photos from throughout my trip to Alaska, the photos taken from the helicopter are the absolute standouts. The views are spectacular. I had never been in a helicopter before and was a bit nervous about it, but once it took off, I felt completely safe - it felt much more like an airplane than I had expected. Walking on the glacier was a very cool experience, and the tour guides were very informative. Highly recommended!

This helicopter tour was recomended by relatives who went the year before I did. The pilot and staff were extremely professional, the helicopters were in excellent condition. Once you land you get a guided tour of the glacier, which was excellent. This trip was nothing short of spectacular. If your going on the Alaska cruise, keep in mind if you want to go on the whale wildlife quest adventure out of Juneau, ( which was awesome as well ) you can't take the helicopter tour the same day, not enough time in port. So I was told to take this helicopter tour out of Skagway. I would highly recomend this !

This adventure has moved to the top of our list of sights we've seen. Breathtaking nature and unbelievable...both the helicopter ride to Meade Glacier and walking on and exploring the glacier and its waterfalls and water holes. A rainbow appeared within the mist while on the glacier. The staff were very courteous and considerate for our safety and assured us the experiences of all the features of the glacier. Recommend to anyone!
