Experience the natural beauty and history of the Taiya River Valley on a bicycle! During the Gold Rush, Dyea was Skagway's rival city, booming with 10,000 people. Now nature has reclaimed the land, leaving only ghosts of its Gold Rush past. This scenic tour starts with an informative van ride along the spectacular coastal inlets to the west of Skagway. Your professional guides will tell you about the rush of 98' and inform you about the ecology of this rich area. After a bicycle and safety orientation, your guide will lead your small group on a bike route that covers five miles of flat terrain for easy pedaling. You will ride through the lush rainforest, visit historic ruins, see the Chilkoot trailhead, and venture out to the coastal tidal flats where eagles, salmon, colorful wildflowers, and dazzling mountains are often in view. Do not be surprised if a bear is spotted as well! Leave the crowds behind, get some mild exercise, and take in the natural wonders of Alaska on a bicycle.
Note: Participants must be at least 10 years of age, at least 4' 6" tall and comfortable utilizing hand brakes along approximately 5 miles of flat, dirt roads. Sport shoes and layered clothing are recommended. Outerwear is provided. Tour time and distance may vary depending on group. For more details about this tour please visit: www.skagwaybicycletours.com

Our tour guide for this was wonderful! I learned a lot about the town of Dyea. We probably bicycled for about an hour to an hour and a half. It's about a 20-30 minute car ride to Dyea. Definitely would recommend it! The bicycle ride is fairly easy, it's on flat dirt path, sometimes it's a little bumpy where there's a lot of little pebbles but it doesn't last for very long. I'm not sure if they have children bicycles, I didn't see any but you can probably call to ask first if you have children. The rain forest isn't like an Amazon rain forest it's actually a temperate rain forest. It's still amazingly beautiful. The guides are really knowledgeable and can answer most of your questions. Highly recommend it!
