Catamaran Sail & Cayo Levantado Beach

This 46-foot catamaran takes you on a leisurely trip around Samana Bay for approximately two hours. Then, head to the private island of Cayo Levantado to enjoy the white-sand beach and relax. There are quaint little shops to explore with time to swim or just stroll for two hours. Then, you'll return to your ship via regular tender service. Note: Participants must be at least 2 years of age. At the beach, a barbeque and a tropical lunch is available at an additional charge. Credit card or cash is required for water sport rentals. Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel.

Great Excursion
This is a great excursion for those who would like to go to the island of the Dominican Republic but do not want to wander around yourself or in the main town. The tour guide (Wellington) is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and makes you feel very comfortable. They pick you up in Semana by catamaran and bring you to a seperate little area where they have restrooms, avocado trees, banana trees, pinapple plants, coconut palms and oher fruits and Wellington shows you each of these plants. Then they treat you to fresh grown fruit and delicious Dominican coffee and rum punch. You have the opportunity to take pictures and purchase some small tokens (jewelry, coffee etc) on the way back to the catamaran but do not get harassed to make a purchase in any way. The catamaran then sails around Semana Bay near Cayo Levantado for a decent period of time. The staff on the catamaran is very friendly and they will offer several drinks during the bay cruise. They drop you off at the pier of Cayo Levantado where you can sit in the white beach chairs for free and join the cruise people who took the beach excursion by the cruise line. Food is offered for an additional price at the beach and you can also rent kayaks etc. Pinapple drinks and coconut drinks (alcohol) were available for only $5. The beach was fabulous and I would go back in a second. :) You take regularly available ship tenders back to the ship when ready.

Well worth the money
This was a really fun trip. Wellington was very informative and entertaining. If you have never sailed, this is for you. It was neat to sail around the ship. The fruit on the island was tasty and there was plenty of rum punch
