Drive through the picturesque marinas of Zea and Microlimano in Piraeus as your tour heads to the center of Athens. You'll have the opportunity to admire some of the most important sites of Athens such as Constitution Square, the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, Temple of Zeus, Royal Palace, and the Old Marble Olympic Stadium. The Acropolis is one of the most photographed and recognizable hills in the entire world. Sights include the Propylaea, Temple of Apteros Niki, Erectheum and Architectural Triumph of the Parthenon. Afterwards, you'll have free time to wander around the picturesque streets of Plaka, the old preserved district of Athens with numerous art and craft shops, restaurants and cafes. You'll have plenty of free time for shopping or to independently enjoy Greek specialties at one of the traditional colorful taverns. After your wanderings at the old district of Athens, board your coach from a designated point at a set-up time for your return to the pier.
Note: The Acropolis is explored on foot and requires approximately two hours of walking. There are some 75 steps at the entrance and in certain locations the marble is uneven and slippery. Temperatures can reach extreme highs during summer months; we recommend that you drink a lot of water and use suitable sun protection. Online price is inclusive of the Pre-book and Save offer.

This would have been a lot better tour, had our guide not been so terrible. We could not hear her on the bus, poor english, we got headsets to use, but many worthless, she had a sign to carry so we could follow in the crowd, but didnt hold it high enough and got lost in the crowd. Said she could not talk and carry her sign at the same time. I brought my Rick Steves' book with me to help understand and see what was I was seeing, and what other items to see in the immediate area. We did not see the Tomb, but be sure to see the Temple of Zeus nearby, its included with your ticket. But she did haul us to a restaurant and shop to buy junk in, in the Planka district. I did inform the excursion of the way the tour was handled. This was one site we REALLY wanted to see, we did see it, but it could have been handled a lot better.

On our way to the Acropolis, we made a quick stop at the original Olympic Stadium. There wasn't enough time to go inside, but plenty of time for photos and to take a good look. We then had an excellent guided tour of the Acropolis. Our guide was very informative and gave us ample time to explore on our own and take pictures. We then headed to the Plaka for lunch and free time. We found a very delicious restaurant (I'm still dreaming of this meal!) and then did some souvenir shopping and got some gelato. We had plenty of time left over to wander to Hadrian's Temple and Arch for photos before we had to meet the bus. This tour was the perfect combination of guided tour and free time. I felt like we were able to see everything we wanted without being too rushed. I highly recommend this tour.

Review 3 for The Acropolis & Leisure: Pre-book & Save $20
We enjoyed the tour but we did feel after that we should have just done a private tour at our own pace. Once the tour guide was done talking we only had 45 minutes to look. I would say that the Acropolis you should not miss but do the sites on your own. If you choose to do this tour you should be able to climb stairs (alot of them), walk up/down hills, with stand heat. My advice is to take an umbrella to shade yourself because there is not a lot of shade. I would not recommend this tour to anyone that has mobility issues! I do recommend someone seeing all the sites visited but I do feel that maybe a local private tour company would be better. I would not recommend a taxi because the traffic was a problem and it could run into a large expense. If you should choose a taxi; there are plenty waiting at the port.

My husband and I really loved this excursion. The weather in November was no too hot and the tour guide was informative and entertaining. We enjoyed having time in Plaka after seeing the Acropolis and the bus tour around Athens. We would recommend this tour to anyone.
