Mirabella Catamaran Sail, Swim & Snorkel

See St. Maarten from the deck of a luxury catamaran - it's a party with the beach, swimming and snorkeling. The friendly crew has lots of activities planned for you! As you sail along the palm-lined seashore framed by emerald hills, you'll see some of St. Maarten's famous sights including Fort Amsterdam, Little Bay, Cay Bay, and Pelican Key. At the first stop you'll do the snorkeling. Discover the underwater world and its inhabitants such as starfish, octopus, angelfish, barracuda, sea urchins, stingray, snapper, squid and ballyhoo! Your snorkeling adventure will be complete with first-class snorkeling gear and professional instructions by the friendly crew to make your time in the water most enjoyable. On the way to the next stop you'll have a chance to see other St. Maarten sights. Snacks (chips and dips, cheese, crackers and sandwiches) as well as ice-cold beverages from an open bar (rum, fruit punch, sodas, water, beer and juices) will be offered to you during the whole excursion. On the return sail, bask in the sun, and enjoy Caribbean music for a perfect ending to your day in this little paradise! Note: Participants must be at least 3 years of age. Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel and sunscreen. Due to weather conditions snorkeling and beach stops may vary and be in a different order. Snorkeling visibility and presence of marine life cannot be guaranteed. Guests should consider their physical fitness level and medical history when determining whether this tour is appropriate. Guests with cardiac conditions, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, other heart or respiratory conditions, who are pregnant or have any other medical condition, should take particular caution when selecting a tour with snorkeling/swimming elements.

Refreshing
We enjoyed this tour and after looking at the other reviews I felt I had a good understanding of what we would get on this excursion and I was not disappointed. Like other reviews mention, it did not have the greatest snorkeling, so we did not go just to snorkel. They throw bread in and the fish SWARM, but they are all the same type...as long as you're comfortable, the crew will throw the bread right by you and the fish jump all over you to get it!! I didn't want them to touch me and the crew respected that.
The water was nice and at the second stop, the boat anchors fairly close to a beach you can swim to. We took a walk on the beach and then swam back and floated on noodles they provided.
The drinks came out at the second stop so that they were being safe and not having tipsy passengers swiming. They also provided chips, salsa, and ham sandwhiches. The crew was great and very upbeat. All 4 were very talkative! Would recommend this for those that want a day on the water and the opportunity to do swimming/snorkeling/beach time. Family friendly and pretty easy for kids!

not for snorkelling
The catamaran ride was alot of fun but the snorkellling was bad. You take 45 minutes to get to the snorkelling place and all the way there you see 30-40 feet down the water, it is so clear. We pull up to a beach where the waves hit the shore and bounce back causing alot of stirred up sand so the water was cloudy. If you want to go on this for the snorkelling stay on the ship. They fed some fish while we were there snorkelling and tons of fish came up around you , it was cool and everybody enjoyed that. The crew operating the boat were very friendly and enjoyed their information about the island.

Not worth the money
Cruise was January 2013. Not much time in water. Drinks not given out till after swimming. Lunch was 1/2 sub with 1/2 slice of cheese and 1/2 slice of turkey breast. Had to wear a life jacket to snorkel even though had C card and own snorkeling equipment. No life jacket used to swim. Told about the stars houses about 5 or 6 times coming and going from snorkeling stop.

So Worth The Money
The first time my hubby and I were on the Mirabella was December 2011 and we loved it so much we could not wait to go back in December of 2012. The crew definitely makes this trip. They are a fun loving and entertaining crew but they always put the safety of the passengers first. We could relax on the netting at the front of the catamaran, snorkel to our hearts content or swim in the beautiful Carib. water knowing someone was watching out for us. We thought the submarine style sandwich, the open bar, music and dancing on the way back to the ship was great. The scenery of course is breath taking. If we hit St. Maarten again on another trip we will be back on the Mirabella for another relaxing, enjoyable day in paradise.

Snorkeling in St. Maarten not fabulous
The overall trip was very nice. We had plenty of sun and the weather was great. The water is beautiful. The crew was a little strict and was not overly friendly but the cruise to the snorkeling site is wonderful. The snorkeling was not great, the water was murky (as it seems is often the case). You stop at 2 locations, one that is off a beach near a rocky ledge for snorkeling and then another which is mainly beach for swimming etc. We had run punch offered to us. I would recommend this trip for a catamaran beach excursion but not for a snorkeling excursion.

Excellent trip
My family participated in this excursion in December 2012. The catamaran was very nice. We enjoyed riding in the netting over the water in the front, while listening to a description of the island. The snorkeling was great for a first time experience - the crew was very helpful to my kids (ages 9 and 12). We saw some fish and coral at the first stop. The second stop was at a beautiful beach. We played some bocci on the beach and did some swimming. I highly recommend this tour - it was very enjoyable and relaxing.

Mirabella Sail, Swim & Snorkel
Absolutely fabulous sail across the blue waters off St. Martin. First stop for snorkeling was OK but not a lot of fish to see and no coral at all. Second stop was at a beautiful beach near the Maho Beach Hotel. An ideal tropical beach with great swimming for everyone. Enjoyed diving off the boat and sliding down the slide into the clear waters. So, don't do this for the snorkeling but for the joy of the sail, swimming and the beach!

Snorkling Thumbs down
I would not recommend this trip if you are interesting in seeing fish while snorkeling. The boat ride was fine but the water was murky and nothing to see. St. Thomas is a better destination for snorkeling. The beach stop was nice and the crew offered noodles to use while swimming to the beach. The crew did like to party and wanted to guests to dance on the ride back. The catamaran is clean along with the facilities.

OK but I heard others are better
This was ok seriously nothing "bad" just kinda over rated. They only let you snorkel in one spot for like 25 mins and there is really nothing to see. They rush thru it .. Then you take a ride to a really nice beach I'll give them that. Lunch well I guess if you call half a sandwhich lunch .. you will be ok. The crew tried hard to be entertaining if you like to dance- you can dance with them. It was a nice ride in a beautiful area but alot of people getting off were not happy and said there were better ones.

Not the Best
The trip to the diving spot was very nice and the crew were great but the diving itself left a lot to be desired. Some nice fish but mostly just rocks with a little coral growth. We proceeded to a beach area but waves were so strong the boat had to anchor offshore and they recommended we didn't go to shore (a good 100 feet or so away) because of the waves. I don't think I would do this one again or recommend it to others.
