Golden Eagle Sailaway

Count the flying fish or watch for dolphins while lying in the nets or lazing in the shade. The 'Golden Eagle' will nuzzle her bow or anchor close to shore on one of the finest pink-sand beach you'll encounter in the Caribbean. Stop for a swim in a quiet cove, snorkel in crystal-clear waters or bob around on a funky noodle beach float. Homeward bound, the crew sets the sails as you listen to great music while enjoying champagne, rum punch, sodas and light snacks. Note: Participants must be at least 4 years of age and weigh no more than 275 lbs. Venue may change due to weather. This tour is on the French side of the island, where some nudity may be observed.

Excellent
From the ship you have a very short walk through the (nice) port area to the boat pier.
Then it's about a 1 hr sail, along the Dutch coast, you get a sense of the island from the sea. You get to see up close the famous airport with very low landings.
There is just 1 stop, where you snorkel and then spend time of the beach. the water is crystal clear, it is an amazing beach, it belongs to the super-luxury La Samanna hotel but others can access it (only) from the water.
The stop is long enough. On the way back there are sandwiches, beer and champagne.
I really enjoyed the trip, the beach, the chance to have a great swim.

This excursion was just okay. We had a nice time but the snorkeling was NOT GOOD. The beach that they take you to is very nice though.
So, don't do this excursion for the snorkelling. (save that for St. Thomas)

Snorklers Beware
The excursion actually was as described. Great crew. Great catamaran. Ample beverages and snacks. Unfortunately we misassumed that snorkeling would be one of the highlights of the trip. There idea of snorkeling was to drop us off at least 50 yards from the nearest reef and advising us to stay between two crowded dive barges that were supporting other snorkeling and helmet dive groups. We were given 40 minutes for this portion of the excursion, barely enough time to see much more than a few fish and a cannon and swim back with our 6 YO, navigating around the dive hoses, bouys and other swimmers. Then they took us to a beach requiring another 50 yard swim to get to the nice sandy beach. (Hint, watch the current to determine where to enter the water to swim and drift back to the catamaran after the 45 minute or so beach visit.) Nice time on beach, though we had to watch out for dog waste. Bottom line, this is not a small dive or snorkeling excursion. It is basically a booze cruise souped up with some swimming activities.

My favorite excursion
This excursion was a blast. We sailed a little way from the port to snorkel. There was plenty of gear in all sizes for everyone on the catamaran. There was plenty of space for all on the boat and plenty of drinks. A sandwich was offered, also. We then had about an hour to go to the beach or swim at our leisure. The crew of five was very friendly and enthusiastic. I wish we had more time to snorkel, but overall, it was as described on line. Definitely a good choice for the day!

Great family time
We have 2 boys, ages 8 and 5. They both loved it. The crew let them "drive" the boat for a while. It was a nice half hour or so out to our snorkeling destination. We saw sooooo many fish. They werent colorful, but there were so many. Mostly white, but it was fun. The beach that we pulled up to was nice, so when the boys were done snorkeling they rode the waves into the shore with their life vests on. They had the best time! On the way back, there was music, dancing on the boat, rum drinks, beer, and champagne served up! They sold tshirts for $20 with a pic of the boat on it. My boys love their shirts! It was a great time and the family loved it. Would do it again! Crew were so nice!

Perfect day
I recently took my family of 5 on this trip and we had a fantastic time. The crew were very friendly and made our day so relaxing and memorable. The beach was beautiful. My wife and children snorkeled for the first time and loved it, there were lots of fish that came to shade under the boat. The sandwiches on the way back were yummy and so was the rum punch! Great job Golden Eagle!

Excellent all around experience
I took this trip with my husband and young daughter and we had an absolutely fabulous time! The crew were so attentive and fun! The beach was beautiful, we really enjoyed the snorkeling and the rum punch and sandwiches on the way back were the icing on the cake! We couldn't have asked for a better time. Would recommend this to anyone - best tour ever!!!

Not much to offer
the crew on this excursion was very friendly and helpful. As is too often the case, the actual activity time was quite limited. For the fair skinned, although the beach was attractive there was absolutely no shade.

Not as great as expected
This was okay...one crew member was great- other's didn't interact at all. Water was murkey and didn't see very much at all. Beach was nice and drinks offered. Each person was given 2 small pieces of sandwhich- that was all for food. We had 2 small kids along- and they had fun. If you want to just sit on a boat and sit on a beach- then this might be for you.Overall wasn't worth the price- would recommend something else...
