This National Park is one of the most popular and attractive excursions that take place in the north area of the Central Valley of Costa Rica. On your way to Poas National Park, you'll see amazing landscapes, as well as coffee and sugar cane plantations. Then, be astonished by Poas Volcano, sitting at 8,500 feet above sea level, it is one of the few active craters in the Americas. It is famous for its geyser-like eruptions of gas and ash. The main crater is an enormous pit 1.5 km in diameter and 984 feet (300 meters) deep. Also, stop by the Visitor's centre, where you can admire exhibits on the history and other aspects of this still-active volcano. Next, enjoy a traditional lunch served at a charming restaurant surrounded by rainforests, greenery, and flowers. Before you return to your ship, visit the town of Sarchi, here you'll be able to see the artisans painting a wide variety of woodcrafts, you can find a large selection of leather goods, oxcarts, and all kinds of souvenirs. This town is very picturesque, characterized by its houses beautifully decorated with the ornamentation used on the oxcarts. Note: There is a considerable amount of walking in this tour.
