Aerial Tram & Rainforest Adventure

Embark on an open-air gondola ride with a bilingual naturalist guide to safely glide you through a living backdrop of giant trees, hanging gardens, waterfalls and lush green landscapes. Panoramic ocean views and common sightings of wildlife that thrive in the canopy will introduce you to this unique transitional forest. This is also one of the few areas in Costa Rica where you can occasionally see spectacular scarlet macaws majestically soaring above the treetops or sitting in one of the trees. To complete your rainforest experience, visit the Serpentarium, a medicinal plant Garden and Heliconias Gallery. You'll also have a chance to pass though a snake exhibit set in the tropical rainforest. Enjoy a delicious lunch before returning to your ship. Note: Wear light clothes, closed-toe shoes. Bring rain gear and insect repellent.

We only had 1 day in Costa Rica (Panamal Canal - NYC to LA) and this was great excursion. Bus ride was a little more than 1 hr and was very comfortable. Arrival @ park was very well organized - bathroom break, intro video and then divided into small groups for guided tour of park. Excellent guide - very knowledgeable and clear. Walk was about 45 mins and had a few hills but not too bad (my wife has issues walking on hills...). Fascinating to learn about all the exotic plants... There were several groups and we tended to bunch up a bit on the trail but it wasn't really issue (learned from both guides @ same time...). Aerial Tram was great - only 6 of us in our tram with own guide. I'm not big on heights but felt very comfortable and secure. Again, guide was great. Saw a couple monkeys and one Tucan (at a distance...). Lunch provided was very good. Was very happy that we didn't have any issues with bugs/mosquitos (came prepared with bug spray but they weren't bad at all...). Had a few showers but no signifiant amounts (it is a "rainforest"...) Overall was a great excursion. We recommend for anyone

This was a fantastic excursion. Our guide was superb. She was very informative, knowledgeable, and responsive to everyone's needs, and she spoke perfect English.
The tram is near Jacó, quite some distance from Puntarenas, so there was a longish bus ride. Fortunately, our guide used this time to give us extensive background information on Costa Rica and tell us about our surroundings. She was expert at spotting wildlife; we got to see crocodiles and macaws from the bus. The bus itself was very nice and seemed new. The seats were comfortable, the air conditioning was good, and there was a bathroom. As a result, our time spent on the bus was quite pleasant.
The tram was a lot of fun. We got a nice view of the different parts of the rainforest, and the guide was very helpful in providing explanation and pointing out flora and fauna.
The other parts of the excursion were great too. Before the tram ride, there was a ground tour where we learned about a number of different plants and animals, which was quite interesting. There was also a small serpentarium where we learned about the snakes that live in the area. (I'm sure this part of the tour could be skipped easily, so ophidiophobes needn't fear.)
The lunch was fantastic. It was served cafeteria-style, so you could choose what you wanted, and everything tasted amazing. I got beans, rice, fruits, vegetables, and a delicious plantain dish. This gave us a great taste of some of Costa Rica's native foods. (There was also chicken, but I'm vegetarian, so I skipped it.) Some of the fruits were ones with which I hadn't had much experience (papaya and jícama), so I got to try some new things. The lunch even related back to the tour; the rice was colored using the same kind of plant as one we had seen earlier that day (annatto, an ingredient I had often seen on food labels but had not known much about).
The excursion was the perfect length. Including the bus ride, it used up most of the day, but there was just enough time for some souvenir shopping in Puntarenas when we got back.
I can recommend this excursion unreservedly.
