Maui Whale Watch & Lahaina On Your Own

Each winter one-third of all north Pacific whales migrate 3,000 miles to the warm waters of Hawaii, from their feeding grounds in Alaska. Join a certified marine naturalist for an opportunity to experience these legendary creatures up-close. Throughout your adventure, a guide will interpret the whales' fascinating behavior and share with you the latest whale discoveries. Listen to their ethereal songs through underwater hydrophones and enjoy an unforgettable experience that you'll never forget. Before heading back to your ship, enjoy some leisure time in Lahaina where you'll have access to dozens of boutiques, shops, restaurants, and historical sites within easy walking distance. Note: All efforts will be made to view the whales, but sightings cannot be guaranteed. The return transfer back to the ship departs the meeting location at 3:00pm.

Whales, whales, whales.
The marina that the tour boat leaves from is on the other side of the island from the port so you get a lovely drive around the coast. Be sure to look up and sometimes down to see the old road which follows the contour of the land .While high on the cliff-road look out and see spouting whales even before you reach the marina.
Boat is comfortable and the guides informative and you WILL see whales...
Lahaina waterfront has a main tourist drag. One shop specializes in wonderful scrimshaw and there are a few artist galleries worth looking into. Coffee, sea food and ice cream are the order of the day and don't miss the one acre- sized Banyan tree at the Old Courthouse park

Lots of Whales
I was more interested in the whales than shopping and I wasn't disappointed! Still, I would have liked to have a bit more time to shop. We cruised the end of January & were told the bulk of the migration was still a few weeks away. If you're more interested in the shopping, don't take this excursion.
