Even though it was at end of season, we saw at least a dozen different sightings. Our hosts said it was the best and most active sightings they had seen for several days. We saw breaches, tail flashes, rolls, jumps, everything possible. What awesome creatures. They even followed our boat after we turned around to go back, still putting on a playful show! The hosts are very informative and respectful of these majestic mammals.

This tour was operated by the Pacific Whale Foundation, and departed from Ma’aelea Harbor Village on the south side of Maui. The team from the Foundation was very knowledgeable, and provided us with many opportunities to see the Humpback Whales, despite it being so early in the whale season in Maui.

One of our favorite excursions, saw many whales. Saw one pod of about 12, very active sightings.

Lotsa Whales!
Enjoyed the trip. We went in mid January. Went in a air conditioned motor coach on a short ride to where we met the tour operators. Went with an eco friendly company who gave very informative and interesting information about the whales. You could really tell how much they cared about the ocean life.
I liked that the boat operators got close, but kept enough distance not to interfere and upset the whales. The boat was crowded and we had to move around a bit from side to side to see the whales, but everyone was nice and took turns who would stand on the sides so we could all take pictures.
They made yummy homemade fresh fruit smoothies and had snacks as well for small price.
