I would recommend this with the caveat that on our particular day in mid Feb the sun went behind the clouds, the wind was so strong it blew sand in my eyes and we were freezing. It's a beautiful beach but pretty quickly the only people still there were NCL and we took bus back early. What a shame. Beautiful beach and lots of offered activities. In general this cruise was windier and cooler than 5 years ago and we needed jackets several times so it wasn't just this beach. So we just had bad luck.

I spent half of the time relaxing in a chair under an umbrella. The other half I spent snorkeling. The beach is very nice.

grab this day at the beach
We took this excursion because on a 4-island cruise to Hawaii, how could we not hit the beach, and this day we had an opening to do it. We had done the Haleaka Crater at sunrise and gotten up at 3:15am to do it, and said if we were going to sleep afterwards anyway, may as well sleep on the beach!
You are transported about 20 or so minutes away to Wailea, and the beach is in between the Four Seasons and Grand Wailea resorts, so you are free to use their facilities (except their pools) while you're there. You are provided beach chairs, and can rent equipment like paddle boards, snorkeling stuff, and noodles. There is also ample water for drinking. The sand is smooth and the beach is calm, great for swimming.
It was a bit windy, but we didn't care. They give you 5 hours there, so when we had enough sun & sand, we walked around the resort grounds as there's a trail that goes around the beach. We then had some drinks and snacks (popcorn shrimp, sushi) at the poolside bar in the Grand Wailea resort. A bit pricey, but that was to be expected so didn't phase us.
It was worth it to have this relaxing beach day. The only other opportunities are in Kona or Kauai, I believe, and there are so many other excursions going on there that it pays to get the beach day in Maui so you can do those other things in the other ports. If you are looking for shopping and wandering around a town, you're probably better off going to Lahaina and then trying to get onto one of the Kaanapali beaches on your own.

Short ride to the beach. We were greeted by 2 guys that led us down to the beach. BEACH CHAIRS AND DRINKING WATER WERE INCLUDED! We had 2 handicapped people with us and they made us feel right at home. They went over and beyond to make us comfortable. The beach is in between 2 hotels... We had lunch at Snorkels. It was a bit expensive but worth it! We would definitely do this again. The beach was amazing!

Beach day at Maui
Recommend this relaxing day trip. Beautiful beach. Kinda crowded though since three resorts share the same beach. Umbrella was $20. To eat you need to go one of the resort restaurants.
You'll be out there for 5 hours. You can't go back unless you get a cab which is expensive. Come prepared with all your stuff.

The ride to the beach was short (about 20 mins). Once we arrived we were greeted by someone who led us down to the beach and set us up with beach chairs. Umbrellas, body boards, snorkel equipment were all available for an additional cost. While we were there we went out on an outrigger canoe with several other people. The guides on that hour tour were great! They shared history and culture of the Hawaiian people before we went out and while we were out in the ocean. Would definitely spend the money on that again! There were a couple of hotels right off of the beach. We used the facilities at the Four Seasons and picked up a couple of snacks. Great day!

relaxing
We picked this excursion so we could relax before waking up at 2 am the next day for the Haleakala sunrise tour. The beach was stunning! We ended up renting snorkel gear and went on our own to a nearby reef. There was an abundance of fish and we even swam with a wild sea turtle! I have been on many snorkeling excursions throughout the Caribbean and that was by far one of the most beautiful places to snorkel. The tour also included access to the nearby resort where you could purchase food and drinks. I would recommend the store in the resort because it was less pricey than the poolside café. Overall it is a great beach and we enjoyed the excursion.

beach day
This beach day was just ok yet it was great to have a day to sit and relax. It was very windy and the waves that day were high so you could not rent any snorkeling gear, boards and the trampoline for the kids was unable to go into the water. We shared the beach with guests from 2 resorts on the same propety. We also had to walk to those resorts to use the restrooms which was a good walk. If you wanted to eat you also had to go into one of the 2 resorts and eat at thier pool restaurants. It was a 30 minute ride to this beach from the boat and our driver did not stop talking the whole time which drove me crazy and on the way home she took us out of our way to show us something she thought was interesting. I did get some nice pictures though of the beach and surrounding views.

Incredible beach!
Great excursion for the whole family! The beach is absolutely stunning with powdery soft sand that goes well out into the water. Excursion staff were very friendly and helpful. Our kids had an absolute blast on the water trampoline. We had a nice lunch at the Four Seasons overlooking the beach -- pricey but worth it!

NICE BEACH
This was a very nice beach. The sand is VERY hot (wear flops). You get a beach chair (no umbrella it is $20 extra but totally worth it) and cold ice water is also included. Canoes and trampoline activities are available for an extra cost also. The public restroom there is AWFUL but you can go to the one at the hotel pool (red-roof) close-by that is very nice. It did get VERY windy later in the day. Don't know if that is the norm.
