Best Of Maui - Plantation, Iao Valley & Ocean Center

Excellent Excursion
My husband and I just returned from a wonderful cruise on the Pride of America. We took this tour on April 15 and had a most enjoyable time. The driver/guide was excellent and very knowledgeable, keeping us entertained and informed. We enjoyed the stops along the way and loved the Ioa Valley which was extremely lush and beautiful. The plantation visit was also very enjoyable and we saw many varieties of the native trees and flowers and of course, pineapples. We had a lovely buffet lunch as well and then were off to the Ocean Centre. Our guide made sure we had enough time to thoroughly enjoy the wonderful exhibits with a most fascinating variety of sealife and aquariums. All in all, a great tour and highly recommended.

Great Tour
This was a very informative tour. Easy walking, with some stairs/hill climbing at Ioa Valley but well worth the walk. The plantation visit was informative and includes very pretty grounds. The lunch was filling. The Ocean Center was interesting and well layed out. Could have had more time at the Ocean Center but we did get through the entire venue in time.

Bad planning
Iao Needle was a site to see, but we wasted time waiting to leave as the tour budgeted so much time for this stop. I rather had more time at the Ocean Aquarium. We also had too much time for lunch, this time could have been better spent (again we were waiting to leave). The aquarium was a place that needed time to browse, inside and out. Instead we felt extremely rushed - we did not get the time necessary to enjoy this stop. If you want to visit a "plantation" do not go on this tour. The plantation was not a real plantation. It was more of a tourist trap - they simply planted patches of coffee, pineapple for tourists to see.

Not the best ):
The Iao Valley is the only portion of this tour that we enjoyed. The scenery is beautiful and the history very interesting. We were disappointed with the plantation and ocean center and felt that was a waste of time. I would choose another tour.

Lots of variety
We enjoyed the hiking in the Iao Valley. The plantation was small, but the guide was very knowledgeable about the local crops and flowers. The lunch was VERY good. The Ocean Center was good. We have a similar aquarium in our home town.
