Lahaina On Your Own - Round-trip

For the most convenient and cost efficient way to travel to Lahaina - a quaint town on the shores of west Maui - use this round-trip motorcoach service. You'll ride in comfort for approximately 45 minutes each way, enjoying views of the spectacular west Maui mountains and the tranquil coastline. Your motorcoach will make two stops, at Hilo Hatties and at the flagpole next to the Lahaina Wharf. Dozens of boutiques, shops, restaurants, and historical sites will all be within easy walking distance from both locations. Note: Feel free to check onboard at the Shore Excursion Desk as some tours may also be combined with the 'Lahaina on your Own' tour allowing time in Lahaina with another tour. The return transfer back to the ship departs the meeting location at 3:00 pm.

My husband and I loved our day in Lahaina. We had spent a few days in honolulu prior to boarding and wanted to spend a day relaxing and this seemed to fit what we were interested in. After arriving the bus driver gave us two options for a meeting point and then you are left on your own to explore. This town has lots of shops and great choices for lunch overlooking the water. The banyan tree was a nice place to sit and relax. Since we had such a long period of time to spend here we decided to rent mopeds (scooters) and explore a little outside of front street (which is the main street with the shops and restaurants) this was the best idea!! We found nearby beaches and parks which were beautiful and were not at walking distance so we are sure most people did not get to see. The town itself has a relaxed but yet fun atmosphere and I look foward to visiting here again. Cuise date May 2012

Love it
I love Lahaina. It is a quiet little town, where you just walk around at your own pace. I hate pictures of me but everytime I go there is a vendor with his BEAUTIFUL BIRDS and I have my picture taken with them. Everyone gets one of these pictures back home. Going back 11/12 hope he is there again. This will be my third trip to Lahaina and this year have added the submarine.

Not worth it
I didn't find Lahaina to be quaint, the shops are mostly typical tourist traps, and the driver of our motorcoach who thought he was funny made annoying commentary the entire way there and back.

This was just what we needed after a busy day prior! Pretty drive to/from Lahaina with a fun/interesting tour bus driver. This was very inexpensive transportation to a sweet little town that isn't terribly overflowing with tourists. Shopping was wonderfully tempting there! The Banyan Tree park is a must see - 2nd largest in the World!! The views of the ocean and nearby islands are beautiful - quite the variety of boats docked here. Had fun putting our toes in the water & relaxing in a beautiful, quiet Hawaiian town on the shore!

nice day!
This excursion gives you what it says...a day on your own...we enjoyed exploring the cute little town, gave us a nice opportunity to explore Hawaii on land, and get some shopping in. The Banyan tree was awesome! Nice, relaxing day, with just the right amount of time!

I'm not sure why people who have previously reviewed this trip were surprised. The excursion was exactly as it was advertised. We rode a bus (Capt. Tim is the best!) to Lahaina (appx. 45 minutes). We were dropped off in Lahaina to explore on our own. It is a lovely little fishing village with shopping, restaurants, the wharf, museums, etc. We were picked back up at 3:00 p.m. for the bus ride back to the ship. It is a great/cheap way to spend the day doing something other than just sitting on the ship. A taxi would have been double the cost. We got to see things we wouldn't have been able to otherwise.
