Maui Plantation & Iao Valley: Pre-book & Save $10

Visit two of Maui's most beautiful and popular attractions. At the Maui Tropical Plantation, you'll enjoy a fully narrated 40-minute tram tour of the plantation's agricultural villages, macadamia nut orchards, sugar cane fields and flower gardens, and even see demonstrations of coconut husking and a fruit tasting. You'll also have time to browse at the Made-on-Maui Marketplace. Then it's on to the most well-known and beautiful valley gorge on the 'Valley Isle,' the Iao Valley. In antiquity, the people of Hawaii called this place 'supreme light' and considered it sacred. You'll also visit one of Maui's most unique sights, the Iao Needle, a 2,250-foot cinder cone pinnacle that pierces the clouds and dominates the lush surroundings. Note: Online price is inclusive of the Pre-book and Save offer.

We picked this excursion because these were two things we hadn't done before. If you're considering this excursion, I think it would be better to do the best of Maui excursion, which adds the incredible Maui Ocean Center. The plantation tour wasn't that interesting, with the highlight being the coconut husking demonstration. The Iao valley and Iao needle are very beautiful and the drive there is interesting. I would recommend a Haleakala, Hana, Lahaina or Molokini excursion before this one.

Educational Outing
This trip was educational and the grounds were picturesque, but overall, it was a bit boring. I expected the tram ride to be longer and the plantation to be bigger. This may not suit the adventurous traveler.

We did this tour the second day in Maui. We enjoyed the Marketplace, loved the beautiful plantation/garden. A hint : you must discover the pond and walk around it before and after the tramtour. It's a camera delight.
We found that we had to rush a little bit in order to complete the trip to Iao Needle. The towering peak is magnificent, even if in reality looks smaller than in the ads.

This was a really nice introduction for us, to Hawaii... Our first time to the islands & first cruise... So our first excursion was an adventure. We're not into a great deal of activity - wanted to relax and enjoy the beauty of Hawaii - this was so nice! Plantation is very pretty - such a variety to see - loved the banana trees all over & pineapple - cool! Flea market & sea glass stand were nice to explore. Coconut demonstration was fun & the tour guide was very sweet & knowledgeable. Didn't have a fruit tasting though. Our bus driver for the morning was a very funny lady - who taught us a great deal about Maui. Iao Valley was beautiful - our great day of weather helped make it all perfect. Really nice excursion! Worth it!

SLOW-PACED
This is a SCENIC tour. Probably not for adventurous folks. The plantation part was kinda dull to us but the IAO Valley was beautiful and very much worth seeing. It was REALLY windy there also.
