Horseback Ride N' Swim

Saddle up for the approximately 2 1/2-hour Horseback ride n' Swim. Ride along Papillion Cove, where the movie "Papillion" was shot in 1973, and locations where "Return to Treasure Island" (1985) and "Passion and Paradise" (1988) were shot. You'll see the remains of Richmond and Llandovery, two of the oldest sugar plantations on the island. Be caressed by the refreshing breeze of the Caribbean Sea as your trail takes you along the charming coastline to Chukka Beach. Your experienced guides will educate you on our rich history, culture, flora and fauna. Enjoy a refreshing drink of water or purchase a drink at the bar whilst your guides unsaddle your mounts and prepare for the amazing bareback ride in the Caribbean Sea. Afterwards, take a shower while the guides resaddle the horses for the return trip to Chukka Cove. Browse the gift shop filled with unique Jamaican treasures and enjoy a cold drink and jerk chicken from the Chukka Bar and Grill. Note: Passengers must be at least 6 years of age and weigh no more than 264 lbs. This tour is not recommended for guests with neck/ back problems or pregnant women. Tour participation is limited.

Worst Excursion
While the description sounds nice, in actuality it was pretty lame.
Started with a very friendly van driver, took about 20 minutes to get to site which was expected.
When we arrived there were several groups waiting already. We waited 3.5 hrs before getting on our horses. Total ride time was about 20 minutes through their property - Just a dirt trail with a pile of sand for your rugged adventure. The 'coastline' was 50 yards away, though pretty. Then a 10 minute ride in their cove - ride out single file, do a circle, come back.
Our bags were promised to stay in the van on the property - not the case. The driver got a call for another load of people so our bags were dropped off on the bench in the pavilion.
Would never do again nor recommend. Other cruisers had a blast at Dunn River Falls.

We rode the horses on a trail, and then had a break while they got horses ready to take into the ocean. It was so amazing to ride the horses in the ocean- can't explain the feeling! One of the guides took our camera from us (waterproof camera) and took lots of good pictures. They also take pictures which you can purchase.

Not worth the $$$
description of this activity sounded so good it was the only one I really wanted to take, $5 for a locker? share. no mention of culture flora fauna or sugar plantations about 5 mins was along the coastline, big disappointment. ocean ride was fabulous yet short, had an excellent horse.no showers, no return ride to the cove & pictures were 7 for $25 really I only wanted 1 not worth the $$$

Do it!
This tour was pretty amazing. Even if you never have riden a horse in your life, they make it very easy for you. The horses are well trained and easy to keep under control. The guides were great! Adrian, one of the guides, was amazing! He took our camera from us the whole hike and snapped so many pictures for us!!!
The only "problem" we had was the waiting. I think this was more fault on the bus driver from the peir than the excursion our self, but the bus driver was almost an hour late, then when we got there, he was supposed to keep us on the bus until a guide came on toe explain what we had to do, but he made us get off into the mob of people here and we had no idea what was going on. Once a guide figure out he let us off he got us together and we went, but we waited another hour before we rode. That was the only bad thing about but the ride was awesome!!

This was such an fabulous adventure!! The guides were amazing, they took tons of photos with my camera and made us laugh like crazy. First you go on a trail ride, then you return back to the “hut” and relax, eat, etc. while they take off the saddles and prepare the horses to go into the ocean. Riding the horses in the ocean is just breath taking…it leaves me speechless. The horses loved it and if given the chance I would do it again in a heartbeat! This is a must!

This was so much fun, even though it rained the whole time. The staff at the ranch were funny, understanding, and knowledgeable. We first saddled up and went on a horseback ride through the "jungle". We got to see the cove where a movie was filmed. BEAUTIFUL!! Also, go to see sea grapes, acai berries, mango trees, etc. The horses were very well behaved (for the most part). You don't have to be an experienced rider to enjoy this. The guides are there to help you along the way.
After the trail ride, they unsaddled the horses and we got to climb up on them bareback and ride with them in the sea. This was an amazing feeling. GREAT!!! So much fun and it was definitely a once in a lifetime experience for me! Totally recommend this.
