Sea Fun Beach Snorkel

This beach trip is very personalized and great for all levels of swimmers. A snorkeling site, in calm waters inside a protected reef, will be chosen based on the best ocean and weather conditions. After being outfitted with all snorkel equipment, including wetsuits, you'll receive full instructions and begin snorkeling in a shallow area with no more than seven people per guide. Your guides are marine life experts and provide information about the many colorful fish and coral you see as they lead you out to the reef. You may even encounter green sea turtles! Note: Participants must be at least 5 years of age and weigh no more than 300 lbs. Wear a swimsuit and bring a towel.

Good for all ages
My wife and I, ages sixty-something, took this tour on May 10. The staff was very helpful, explained exactly how to suit up and how to use the equipment, so regardless of experience level you could get the most out of it. We had a choice to swim on our own or float holding the surfboard, or both. I swam until tired, then held the board. We got to hold sea cucumbers and an octopus (maybe I should say it held us :) ) and got to see sea turtles. Very informative, very helpful and very patient folks. TONS of fish and coral, we even got drinks and snacks after including the yummy apple bananas. Yes, the beach was rocky but that is typical of a geographically young island like Kauai.

This was favorite of my three snorkeling excursions. There were lots of fish very large and colorful and they came right up to your face because water is shallow . Turtles too. Paul came up from dive with an octopus for us to pet!.The guides were very helpful and kind and even those with no experience could enjoy this. The guides went all out both assisting people with problems and pointing out things of interest. I am familiar with a lot ot these fish but most people are not-I was impressed with their dedication to making sure you saw and understood as much as possible. One problem is I got scratched up on rocks trying to get out-my fault-it may be best to get them to help you out safely-the safe area is narrow and it is tricky. But I think this type of snorkel would be less threatening to many and it pays off in lots of beautiful creatures to see. At one point Paul said "give him room" when a sea turtle was literally at my elbow. I had the raft on the other side-I was just holding on and floating-so I just stayed put and turtle swam away. This is a treasure chest for snorkelers.

Snorkel
It was okay. There is very little beach time. Most of the beach is rocks. They take you out holding onto a surf board and the water is not calm but very choppy. It is in a protected reef but slip near the edge and you could put yourself in danger. Our driver was very funny but almost got us in a wreck because he couldn't pay attention to the traffic. They provided wet suit, goggles and fins.

Great snorkling
This was the best of our three snorkling trips. It had the greatest amount of fish, coral, and turtles. The staff was very helpful. It could be enhanced by allowing a bit more freedom for the experienced snorklers. Some of the non-swimmers and kids kept the group back.
