Kilohana Manor House & Kalamaku Show: Pre-book & Save $10

Take an exclusive journey through the history of Kilohana, the Manor House, train and Kalamaku show. This specially created evening begins with a ride on the Kauai Plantation Railway. This is an authentic narrow-gauge railroad that conducts tours of working tropical agriculture crops within the Kilohana estate and on surrounding lands. Powered by a diesel-engine locomotive, passengers ride in four restored King Kalakaua-style wooden cars. Your next stop will be at 22 North, a perfectly restored manor house at Kilohana which was the most expensive and beautiful home ever built on Kauai. You'll delight in a unique meal featuring Kauai-grown meats, fish and produce, including fruits and vegetables from Kilohana Plantation's 60-acre orchard and agricultural park. The manor house has been designated as a state historic landmark and has been restored to its vintage 1930 style. After dinner, you'll be escorted to the Kalamaku show and your preferred performance seating. This is the story of a family journey across the vast blue waters of the Pacific with the spirit of the ocean as their guide. Our narrator recounts this epic tale through old Hawaiian chants and song while the dancers keep their rhythms against the strong beat of the drums. The story climaxes with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing. Note: Beverages at 22 North are available for purchase. Beverages and premium seating is included at the Kalamaku show. Must be at least 21 years of age and provide a valid ID to consume alcohol. Participants between the ages of 3 and 17 years of age will be charged the child rate. Price reflected on NCL.com is inclusive of the $10 Pre-book savings.

Worst ever.
The lines to get there & back were absolutely horrendous, long long waits! & very squishy. The train ride was very boring, the speakers to listen to the person speaking in some carriages didn't even work! The show in itself was awful, boring, slow & didn't get it much at all. Food, was horrible, very bland didn't have much choice to choose from, It was just ew ew ew.
When i went to get a drink as they were free on the night, i got a coke, as they pulled out the straw all these cockroaches went everywhere! It was disgusting, the souvenirs were definitely over priced & i can't say much more, than i didn't enjoy the night.

Wonderful Meal and Show
Alhough this is rather expensive for a meal and show, it was well worth it. The train ride and lecture concerning the manor House and grounds was enjoyable, and the sit-down meal at the restaurnt in the Manor House was very good. The historice rendition of the history of Hawaii at the following show was excellent. It was a very enjoyable evening.

This excursion was the best night of my life! I participated in this excursion in 2008 and I still consider this the most exhilarating and magnificent night of my life! The little market where you can buy souvenirs and take pictures is GORGEOUS and the people are SUPER friendly! When the show begins, you can't take your eyes off of the extremely talented dancers and speakers! They also offer FREE photos with them ! In addition to the top of the line entertainment, the food and drinks met the same standard! Everything was delicious! I would recommend this 100% of the time to ANYONE who takes a Hawaii cruise. This is truly one of the "Must Sees" of the Hawaii excursions!

Smart way to go
We really felt that this was a nice excursion. It was extremely well orchestrated at an enjoyable pace. Thought the train ride would be hokey, but we ended up really enjoying seeing the animals and crops on the plantation and "Tiny" kept us laughing the whole way. Drinks were not watered down and the Manor House dinner was very good too, though I would have preferred to have options for more than just dessert. The show was entertaining, more of a production show than a traditional luau show, and a perfect length. Being the first ones back to the ship was a perk worth the extra money!

way over priced
This was an odd excursion as there was a lot to like and a lot to hate. The VIP seating was great as the show is held in what is a large tent that seats about 700. Being the first bus out after the show was a plus as we beat the other 650 people to the security check point at the boat. The setting at the manor house could not have been better. Here's the bad: the food at the manor house was horrible. Think stone cold fried wontons then go down hill from there. The train ride was like something out of a kiddie carnaval with a narrator who asked for tips at the end . My suggettion is to go to the Luau and show and skip the rest.

Best excursion of the tour
If you are going to go, go first class. IInstead of the luau buffet, eat a set meal at the manor house then get front row seats at the luau and be the on the first bus back to the cruise ship. Worth the extra money.

Best way to do the Luau!
This trip is well worth the extra money! "Auntie" really makes the trip memorable! You are truly treated like royalty during this trip! The food is simply fantastic, fresh and delicious! The extra money gives you this personal touch, the special treatment and the best seats in the house at the luau show! And the show is simply spectacular!

A great show and experience
This was a wonderful experience. The train ride and dinner were well worth the extra cost. I would not even consider the buffet style experience. The special treatment was perfect. Our guide, Auntie, was a blast and knowledgeable to boot. Jen, our server, was delightful. The show was one of the best staged presentations I have viewed. The whole evening was a "don't miss" experience.

We've done the luau, as well as the luau with plantation train in the past. This year we splurged on the Manor House. In my opinion, it's worth the extra money. Auntie Mahail Nani explains that you are 'royalty' and the others (up to 600) at the luau are your distant 'cousins.' Women get a flower lei, men get one made of shells. You ride the plantation train, can attend the games & shopping area, then you are escorted by torchbearers to the Manor House where you are offered champagne or sparkling cider. Next you are seated at small candlelit tables at the manor house while serendated by a man singing and playing ukulele and woman dancing the hula. You can shop around in the Manor House. Next you are escorted by torchbearers to a table at the luau closest to the stage. After the show, you are escorted back to the bus and are the first to leave, while your 600 other 'cousins' are still waiting in line to catch the bus back to the ship. Everything is well organized. We had a great time every time we go, even when we did the least expensive level and had to sit at the farthest table from the stage & were the last back on the bus. The Manor House option made us feel special, like we really were 'royalty.' Here's a man blowing a conch shell that called us to dinner.

VIP Treatment
Worth every penny. If you like getting VIP treatment, this is for you! You will get special treatment with reserved seating for the show and a dinner at the manor house vs. the buffet style of all the other Luau guest from the ship. You will get front row seats for the show and will get to be the first bus back from the ship so you don't have to stand in a long line to get back on the ship and will be the first in line to buy the Luau photos. In addition you will get to ride the train and do the shopping before the crowds arrive. The food is excellent and it is so nice to be waited after buffet life on the ship.
