Save Your Money
For the money you spend, we expected more. Save your money. The whole experience was disappointing. Being from New Orleans, I have high expectations when it comes to food, and, at best, it was unappealing. There is an open air market, but one of the vendors was rude and unprofessional. The story was difficult to follow during the show, and it seemed about as authentic as a Las Vegas luau. To be herded into a large warehouse setting, served bland food, and provided a tired show is unacceptable.

AWESOME
This was our first luau so we have nothing to compare it to but we do not see how it could have been any better. The food and entertainment was awesome. The train ride around the grounds was very informative. The vendors on the property were selling items they had made (not made in Japan or Tiawan) so bring cash with you to purchase authentic items!

Great show
The luau was great, the dancers were wonderful to watch, great story line. Food was about average for a luau. The train ride I would skip if we did this again, we were on the right hand side and didn't see a thing. If you take the train sit on the left. Bar closed as soon as the dance was over, all the reviews we read before going said to have a few drinks and not try to get on the bus right away but that was not an option. Overall it was a great show.

Hawaiian BBQ party!
If you are on a budget, you could skip the Plantation Train portion and just do the luau. But the train takes you around the plantation and is a nice little addition to the evening. There is plenty of room to sit and it is not crowded on the train. You see many plants and fruit trees, chickens and pigs on the farm. It is not a major "Wow" factor, but like any train ride you would see at an amusement park or zoo. If you treat it as such, you will not be disappointed.
The pre-luau free drinks are strong! My husband like a drink more than I do and even he said they were strong! I would not overdo as one of the bus drivers said someone got sick on his bus from too many of these drinks. While you are waiting for the luau and dinner to start, there are vendors around the grounds. They have to close up shop when dinner starts.
We paid the extra for the Premium Seating and it was worth it. We had a fun table of folks in the 2nd row, and we could see facial expressions of the dancers and everything up close. The raised stage is in the center of a round area, like a circular tent, so I'm sure the views all around are ok, but definitely much better up front.
Just a comment based on some negative reviews I had read --- this is a luau, which to me would be the equivalent of a Hawaiian barbecue. So the food was great, but nothing like you would get in a French restaurant. Yes, there is macaroni salad, but it was good macaroni salad, and wouldn't you find that at a BBQ? The chicken and pork were tasty, and althought I didn't know what to make of the poi (pretty tasteless and weird consistency), I can vouch that almost everyone at least tried it. They also have a dessert and coffee table. You can go up for second helpings anytime, but I think most people were just so stuffed there was no room for more!
The show was just the right length and professionally done, well-choreographed. These were not just a bunch of locals with grass skirts on. There was enough fast hip-moving to satisfy my husband and a good storyline. Something for everyone. The wait for the buses was not incredibly long. We waited maybe 20 minutes, but it's a nice night and people are chatting in line, and they move it right along. We heard someone say they would see the luau at the Polynesian Center in Oahu, but why bother with an extra day trip when a great one is available right on the ship?

Do not miss this luau! Yes, it is pricey but to my husband and i it was worth it (Cocktails & beer included in the price). The food was wonderful and the show terrific!. Waiting for the bus ride back to the ship was not fun so be prepared to wait a while when the show is done. Just hang out with the performers for photos while the throngs of people make their escape to the bus.

Great Show but long bus wait
One of the highlights of the trip. Great show, food was average at best but they are very efficient in getting you through the food line. I booked the train, I wouldn't do that part again but my wife loved it because she took lots of pictures of flowers and birds. Many reviews spoke of the long lines for the bus and others said to wait and enjoy the band. We elected to wait and listen to the band because the lines were very long for the bus. Unfortunately, the band only played two songs then quit leaving us at the tail end of the line. We stood for over an hour waiting for the bus. The long wait kind of soured the taste of the event.

You can't go to Hawaii without attending a Luau, and this presentation was beyond anything I could have imagined. What a show - we loved it!!! Did the plantation train ride before the show - nice relaxing start to the evening & aided in better seats than general admission. Although they said 600 folks from POA went, it didn't feel crowded. Very organized from time we left ship, until show ended. Craft booths at the Luau were nice to browse. The food was good, drinks & dessert the best part! We did try the poi, of course! The show was spectacular, from the story, to the choreography, to the dancing and fire twirling - just awesome! There are lines for returning to the ship afterwards, but you can sit & relax with dancers, take pix & listen to music if you don't want to stand in line - or just relax and wait your turn in line like we did - having enjoyed our evening!

Good entertainment-poor food
The Luau show was awesome! No cruise of the islands should miss this! The food on the other hand was very disappointing although we did enjoy the open bar. The plantation train would have been fun but the PA system was so quiet we could not hear the announcer. We mentioned the problem as the train began to move but nothing changed.
