Heaven & Earth Quest

This exciting tour combines exploration by helicopter and by land. Your journey begins with a scenic drive along Kauai's Coconut Coast. The exotic beaches and lush vegetation have appeared in many movies, including "Dragon Fly," "South Pacific," "Jurassic Park" and "Blue Hawaii." At the helicopter terminal, your pilot will be waiting to take you on an approximately 45-minute flight that includes music and narration on the culture, history and myths that go with the spectacular scenery you'll see. Soar through the heavens for a bird's-eye view of magnificent waterfalls, majestic canyons and inaccessible beaches. See the 3,400-foot Mount Namolokama Waterfalls, Waimea Canyon the 'Grand Canyon of the Pacific,' the Na Pali Coast, Hale Lea Hanalei Valley, even the famous Makana Bali Hai, and, weather permitting, Mount Waialeale. Stop at the picturesque Kilauea Lighthouse, built in 1913. Finally, take a stroll along Hanalei Pier for an unforgettable view of magnificent Hanalei Bay, made famous in the movie, "South Pacific." Note: This tour runs rain or shine. If the flight portion of the tour is cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions, guests will receive a partial refund and the land portion of the tour will be completed. A boxed lunch is included. Guests 250 lbs. and over are charged an additional rate to reserve two seats for safety and comfort. These spaces are capacity controlled. You will not be able to book this option online. Please call 1.866.625.1167 etc for assistance with these reservations. This tour is non-refundable once booked.

Rainbows like you've never seen before
We had the helicopter tour in the morning. Vincent was our pilot and he was fabulous, he narrated as he flew and you could tell he loves the beauty of the area and what he does. When I felt a little airsick, he turned up the AC and when we landed had a ginger chew candy that helped the feeling pass. Besides the beauty of the area, we saw amazing rainbows.
The land portion of the tour, with David as our guide, was also wonderful. Lunch was fun with songs and the hula. David had great stories to share as we learned about the people and the beautiful scenery.
This was our best excursion of this cruise.

A special experience...
We had a tour guide that made our tour enjoyable and memorable - he taught us how to hulu and sang to us during lunch. He did a good job explaining everything we saw especial the wildlife at the lighthouse. The helicopter was the best! We had an awesome experience getting an up close view of Waimea Canyon and the surrounding area. I would definitely recommend purchasing the dvd of your flight - it is the best souvenir. Your experience is recorded - a great way to remember the fun you had & everything that you saw.

Cruise highlight
This was my favourite tour of our cruise! While the helicopter flight is the highlight - the commentary provided by the pilot was fantastic & the landscape simply breathtaking!
But, it was interesting seeing some of the area by land too so it was a good combination.
The only downside for me was our tour guide for the land portion - while he took us to all the relevant spots & gave us all the right information he was not as good as the guides we had on other tours.

very moving experience
The land portion is a great precursor to the helicopter ride. We had David as our driver and he was very informative. He drove us to the North Shore and the east end of the island, and even took us down to the town of Hanalei to the bay, which was not part of the tour but we all agreed we wanted to go down there when a member of the group asked, since he had been there year's back. When we took a break for lunch at Anini Beach, David took out his guitar and played some mellow classical type tunes for us as we ate, like smooth background music.
We were then dropped off for the helicopter ride. I had been to Alaska and taken a helicopter to a glacier, and this is equivalent to that ride - but they are two totally different experiences. You are in the helicopter for about 45-60 minutes, and you put a headset on to hear the pilot narrate, and they have a music soundtrack that accompanies the flight. I cannot see how you would be able to see these views other than on a helicopter. You go into valleys and right into Waimea Canyon, then fly over the Na Pali coast. At one point, I was so overwhelmed I got teary-eyed and put my sunglasses on so that no one would notice! You can get a video of your tour, they show everyone in the helicopter and they film the flight with 6 cameras in the helicopter. We bought the video so we could remember, but when we view it, it does not compare to the full-on view while on the ride. I could tell how much all the others must have enjoyed their flight as well because everyone seemed to have purchased their videos. Incredible.

Best excursion of the trip!
Hands down the helicoptor portion of the tour was the best excursion of the trip! Only a helicopter can get into those canyons and turn on a dime giving everyone the oportunity to get amazing pictures. What they didn't tell me was not to wear bright or light clothing as they reflect off the glass. Had to throw out at least a 3rd of the pictures taken. Afterwards, our guide Domi taught us Hawaiian, how to hula, and sang for us after lunch.

I was a little concerned about my comfort level of flying. The helicopter flight was the best part of the whole cruise. Vincent was our pilot and you could tell he loved the view as much as I did. He made everyone in the helicopter feel as if they had the front row seat. The rainbows were everywhere and the waterfalls were beyond belief. Vincent took us so close to the waterfalls they were all around us. It was so beautiful I thought I would cry. We bought the video and so glad to have it. The city tour portion of the excursion was good but the van was very difficult to get in and out of. Don't pass up the helicopter ride. The city tour might be better with different transportation.

Review only on Helicopter portion
We were picked up at 6:50am for this tour. On the bus ride to the helicopter offices, our guide gave us an overview of what we would be doing after the helicopter ride. Unfortunately, this was a repeat of what we had done on our own the day before, so we chose to leave the tour after the helicopter ride.
After our helicopter tour in Hilo, we were not expecting much. Boy were we ever wrong. I was so glad I ordered the DVD of our flight beforehand. Jimmy was our pilot and he provided great narrative and music for our flight. We saw the entire island from the air. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. I highly recommend the helicopter portion of this tour, and be sure to buy the DVD so you can relive this amazing journey.

Great way to see Kauai
We've done this before & never tire of it. It was our third time up with pilot Barrett who took us on a 40-min helicopter aerial tour of Kauai. Make sure you buy the DVD that includes actual footage of you in the helicopter along with outside footage of the scenes you pass over & the narration of the pilot (costs about $25). Next you get into a luxury van (8 passengers) to tour Kauai. Traveling from Lihu'e airport you will go north on the east side of the island to various sites like Lydgate State Park, Wailua Beach, Kilauea Light House, Anini Beach and another secret beach, There is a lunch stop at Hanalei Bay consisting of turkey sandwhich with Maui-style potato chips and drink. Here you can take a pic with Puff the Magic Dragon behind you. It is a mountainside that is shaped like a dragon that inspired the song by Peter, Paul & Mary "in the land of Hanalei."

Magical
Everything about this excursion was magical. The helicopter ride over the canyon and the Napali Coast was breathtaking. The rest of the day was spent visiting the beautifal back roads and beaches of Kauai. Our guide packed a picnic and brought his guitar. We sang, danced the hula and enjoyed the beauty of Kauai. It was perfect!
