Would do again!
While the stated start time was 8:30, we had to wait around until 9:30 before the guides showed up, then didn't get on the boat until 10. Would have been nice to know beforehand.
Was still a great time.

MUST DO
In August 2012, me, my dad, stepmom, brothers, mand grandparents went on the Norwegian Gem, from New York City. My stepmom and I went parasailing, meanwhile my brother and dad were wave running. Parasailing was AMAZING. There is nothing to be scared about, and the people who run the activity are really nice. The view is so beautiful, and the thrill is so exhilarating. At the end, they dip your body into the ocean, and you go back up about 40-50 feet. It is truely an amazing experience, and I recommend it to every person on a NCL cruise that stops in Great Stirrup Cay. I am going to take another cruise from NYC to the Bahamas and Florida on March 24- March 31, and I am going parasailing with my cousin. I think it will be an even better experience than last time, and I am SUPER excited. I'll tell all fellow cruisers how it is after I get back.

Great View
Beautiful clear day and the view was fantastic. This was on my wife's bucket list and she was not disappointed. We had a scheduled time so there was no waiting. The guides were helpful taking pictures and were very professional. I would go again.

I would do this again in a second! Don't worry if you're scared of heights, you won't even notice the height. The guys on the boat are very friendly and talkative. They built up a great rapport with the other people on the boat. They'll take pictures for you as you go and come back. We brought two disposable cameras with us so the guys took pics from the boat and we took them from the air as well. They'll go around the cruise ship and that makes some great pictures! The water is gorgeous, heck just the view in general is spectacular! Lean back, take your hands off the bar and you feel like you are really flying. It's very calm and steady, you won't be scared at all!

Horrible Experience
I booked this for my 3 kids - first time on a cruise and all the fun. When we got to the island we went to the hut to sign up for a time. They moved our time 3 different times and then the final time we were told that they couldnt take all of us. So my husband stayed on the island. The overall ride for taking up 6 groups of 2 was about 45 mins. You were only in the air for about 3 mins. AWFUL!! We went Christmas 2010. We did while in St. Thomas and it was amazing, which is why we wanted the kids to experience. We later found out that the parasailing crew was taking orders that were not booked via the excursion process - just walk up appts.

A must do!
This was my favorite excursion. The men that take you out to sea are very knowledgable, friendly, and fun. My boyfriend and I are in our mid twenties and this was a first for the both of us. I am more adventurous and he is cautious and not a fan of heights. The captain takes you out to sea about 5-10mins out. You and your partner sit in a harness side by side and are hooked to a metal bar that is attached to the parachute. The boat speeds up and the rope slowly gives as you go higher and higher. It was not scary at all for either of us. You are in the air for a few mins (it feels longer). I brought a camera and took pictures. The crew will also take picures of you from the boat if you bring your camera. It was an experience of a lifetime for the both of us and would love to do it again.
