Discover Atlantis

Immerse yourself in the legend of Atlantis during this exciting excursion. After an approximately 25-minute bus transfer to Paradise Island, you'll be escorted to the resort for a guided exploration of Atlantis, to experience the most mystifying and spectacular resort to have risen from the sea. Discover the world's largest marine habitat, and view over 50,000 sea animals representing 200 different species. Also explore the Dig, which will reveal how Atlantean culture flourished over 11,000 years ago. Come to discover a continent in just one day at Atlantis Paradise Island. At the conclusion of the guided portion of the tour, you'll have some time on your own to return to the Dig and its exhibits, shop at the Marina Village, visit the casino, explore the hotel's grand lobby or have a bite to eat at your own expense. Note: Participants ages 3 or younger receive free admission if accompanied by a participating paying adult (parent or guardian at least 18 years of age). This tour does not include access or use of the resort pool, beach or water slides and is not recommended for those with physical limitations. Although most walking is on level terrain, this is a walking tour and there is a considerable amount of walking involved. Transportation for this tour is by bus, there is approximately 25 minutes each way depending on traffic conditions. Guests participating on an Atlantis Shore Excursion must arrive at the place and time stated on the Shore Excursion ticket. Atlantis tour tickets will not be honored at the resort.

Always wanted to visit the lost world of Atlantis? Or the modern Atlantis… with the iconic Royal Towers featured in many TV commercials? This excursion for you! After a short bus ride from the port to Paradise Island, a tour guide from the Atlantis facility provides you with a 90 minute walking tour started with admiring the large glass sculptures by Dale Chihuly known as the Temple of the Moon and Sun as center pieces in the largest casino in the Caribbean. Then it’s to the grand lobby and the main aquarium which is part of their 11 million gallon marine habitat with tens of thousands of fish, giant rays, sharks, and giant groupers. Then it’s down into the Dig as you descend into the lost city of Atlantis. Along with its rare archeological finds, our guide showed us local crystals and a live conch, a delicacy in Nassau. Individual aquariums featured moray eels, lobsters, jellyfish, lion fish and piranhas. After visiting a small gift shop, we continued through a glass tunnel where you look up through the water and sea life to the Royal Towers above. As we ascend to the daylight, we toured the property including large pools of schooling rays and then over to the tank with the large predators (sharks!!!!). Our tour ended back in the Royal Towers where there was ample time to shop, grab a quick snack, or even try your hand in the casino (which uses US dollars as currency). Shuttles run back to the ship every 30 minutes, so you can return immediately or spend the day at Atlantis. This half day excursion provides you ample time to spend time shopping at the NCL guaranteed shops along Bay Street, a very short walk from the port.

Just go on your own
You don't need to do this tour, if you want to go over to Atlantis just go on your own. Transfer to the island is a little chaotic and you really don't need a guide when you get over there. You can lead yourself on the tour of the resort and go at your own pace. Traffic coming back from the island does get bad so leave yourself enough time.

(We were on the Epic Jan 5-12 ) Our tour was a bit unorganized at the start but once we got moving it was fine. The shuttles were quickly loaded and off we went. We arrived at Atlantis and were sent off in groups with a guide. Our guide was friendly, courteous, informative and a lot of fun. The marine habitat was incredible and the Dig was quite interesting. From the Atlantean 'relics' to the marine life viewing it was an extremely informative tour.

The Dig
We caught a taxi for $4.00 over to Atlantis instead of doing the excursion. Once there we bought our tickets for The Dig and did a self guided tour. We went at our own pace and were there about 2 hours. I can see where taking the tour you would get more information than doing it on your own. It is a very large place with lots of walking and we were lost some of the time. But, I do highly recommend this excursion. It was a great afternoon.

Tour was good but did not leave us enough time to look at all of the different sea life. Felt at times that we were hurried through the aquarium and did not have time to take all the picutres that we wanted to. What we saw was very good and intertaining. Do not think we will go back usless we go without the tour so we can enjoy the aquarium better on our own.

Unorganized
Just wanted to give fair warning that the transportation to Atlantis was unorganized. After checking in at the dock and getting our tour bracelet we were herded to the bus area only to stand in the heat as 20-24 people at a time were permitted to board buses to transport to Atlantis. If it had only been our ship booking this excursion it would have been tolerable but there were people from many ships (s few hundred) trying to get to Atlantis all at once. Very frustrating. The four of us opted to take a taxi to Atlantis which got us there much faster. I felt the cost of the excursion was too much for the walking tour and "transportation" services.

Fun Excursion!

This was a very organized shore excursion - We rode a bus over to the resort, and the bus driver tells you right where to come when you are ready to return to the ship. An Atlantis employee gives the tour, and it is alot of fun and very informative, but we had a lot of rude people on the tour, which is no reflection on NCL though. It is hard to see some of the exhibits and hear the tour guide because of the rude people talking and pushing their way to the front. Other than that, this was a nice excursion and we saw alot of the resort, focusing on "The Dig" and an under water aquarium. Got lots of great pictures!
