Explore the natural wonder of the Everglades from the comfort of your specially designed airboat. Informative, fun and exciting, this tour takes you deep into one of America's largest National Parks - the Everglades. Here you'll come face to face with alligators, exotic birds and native fish while gliding over an endless river of grass. Throughout the approximately 30-minute journey, your experienced guide will introduce you to the unique eco-system of the park as you experience the vast expanse of this saw grass wilderness passing by lush vegetation, mangrove swamps and hardwood hammocks. Known for its rich bird life, particularly large wading birds, be on the look out for the roseate spoonbill, white ibis, wood stork, great blue heron and a variety of egrets. It's also the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles exist side by side. Following your airboat ride you'll be able to explore the park on your own. The Reptile Show will provide you with an informative, interactive opportunity to become familiar with the features of the American alligators. You may also choose to take the Jungle Trail, which leads to an area featuring American Alligators, and a crocodile exhibit, including various species from around the world. Note: Participants must be able negotiate one large step to board the airboat. This tour is only for guests with flights departing after 4:30 pm from Ft. Lauderdale International Airport. Review 1 for Everglades By Airboat - Ft. Lauderdale International Airport
Got a couple of hours before you flight? Take a tour of the Florida Everglades on an airboat on the way to the airport! This was a fun filled ending to our Eastern Caribbean cruise! We traveled by motor coach from the port to the Everglades Safari Park. Once at the park, we were provided with a pair of earplugs (yes those airboat engines and fans are loud!) The bench seats on our boat sat 4 to 5 people across (depending if you wanted to tempt the alligators with a finger or two). Once through the dense growth near the park, the captain opened up the engines for a high speed ride through the open saw grass of the Everglades National Park. It was fun and exciting! About half way through the ride, the captain stopped the boat and gave a comprehensive talk about the Everglades ecosystem. As we returned to the dense growth near the park, we kept our eyes open and were not disappointed in finding several alligators hiding in the brush and an abundance of exotic birds all around. Once back to the park, we walked along the Jungle Trail and saw a large collection of alligators sunning themselves. Then, it was to the wildlife nature show where one of the handlers worked with vary large alligators, feeding them by hand. At the end of the show, you have an opportunity to pose with a baby alligator. Then off to the souvenir shop… or maybe the snack bar where gator nuggets are food of choice. After our visit to the park, our tour driver dropped us off, curb side, at the airport for our trip home.

Review 2 for Everglades By Airboat - Ft. Lauderdale International Airport
This is a great way to see the Everglades on your departure day. The tour group meets by themselves on disembarkation day. NCL staff escorted the group quickly off the ship and onto the bus. They were very good about making sure we didn’t get lost. Our bus guide was one of the best guides we have experienced. He described what we were seeing. He told us what we would be doing and recommended some activities. He also threw in lots of local knowledge that you would not find in a chamber of commerce brochure. The airboat ride was fast and exciting. The predicted high was 80 degrees and we were comfortable without jackets. We saw several alligators and birds. Our captain was entertaining, did a good job spotting the wildlife, and positioned us to see and photograph them. Once back at the pier, we saw a brief alligator show that focused on their behavior. We then walked through displays of crocodiles, caimans and snakes. They have a small shopping area and restaurant. We tried some of the fried alligator and took many pictures. If you have the time, this is a great way to see the Everglades, put your departure day to good use and squeeze in another great memory.

We needed a way to get to the airport in Ft. Lauderdale from the cruise. Not to mention we had some time to kill before flying out. This trip fit the bill perfectly. Not to mention you get to disembark the ship with only the people on your tour. Less crowded! The tour rep talked the whole time on the bus educating us about Florida in general and the everglades. They stored our luggage in the bottom of the bus. I couldn't have asked for more. I would do this tour again in a heartbeat.
