Enjoy one of the main centers of the Christian faith and of world pilgrimage. You'll head north of Lisbon and through the surrounding countryside during the approximately two-hour drive to Fatima. The village of Fatima is the location where religious sightings of the Virgin Mary 'appeared' before three peasant children in May 1917. You'll stop at the imposing modern basilica and see its square, which is larger than St. Peter's Square in Vatican City. You'll also have some free time to explore this impressive contemporary cathedral on your own before the return drive to your ship. Note: Guest visiting religious sites are to dress appropriately; no bare shoulders or shorts are permitted in churches. Tour participation is limited. You'll be required to walk a distance of approximately one-mile. Visit to religious sites may be affected by special ceremonies that may happen without prior notice.
