This is why you came to Alaska: to experience an authentic fishing excursion in the unspoiled wilderness of Alaska's coastline where you'll cast a line in local fishing hotspots. It's the perfect choice for adventurers or families seeking a personalized tour. With only four passengers per boat, your guides customize the excursion to fit your interests and skill level. Completely outfitted, you'll board a stable 20-foot skiff and head out into the unspoiled wilderness. The thrill of bottom fishing is what attracts fishermen to these waters. Feel the visceral connection with the elements as you work your own rod and tackle to hook the 'big one'. Experience the excitement of landing rockfish, red snapper, lingcod or halibut - possibly a world-famous salmon. Your catch becomes lunch; we take only what you'll eat. Afterwards, head for shore to a remote wilderness campsite where a crackling fire awaits. As the camp chef prepares your meal, settle into the stillness of the rainforest, or rest on a beach log and enjoy the centuries-old spruce trees and fragrant cedars. Dine on your freshly caught fish served atop a saffron-infused, bouillabaisse-inspired stew (no shellfish). Savor fire-warmed sourdough rolls, rhubarb blueberry bread pudding, and steaming mugs of coffee or hot chocolate.
Note: Participants must be at least 4 years of age and physically active. We recommended that you wear warm, layered clothing. Actual fishing duration varies from two to three hours. Tour requires negotiating uneven terrain and the skiff is open to the elements. Alaska State Law requires a fishing license that can be purchased in cash at the outfitting room for $20.

Review 1 for Exclusive Alaska Guided Fishing & Wilderness Dining
This was by far my favorite excursion, and I don't even really fish..it was for my husband (who also LOVED it) Our guide Nick was excellent, he was so knowledgeable and friendly. This excursion was wonderful for many reasons but first because it is so small. There are only 4 of you, plus the guide, on the boat. It was intimate and didn't feel touristy. The scenery was spectacular, depending on what you want to do, your guide will tailor the trip a bit. You want to see eagles dive for fish? You got it! You want to catch halibut? We caught a ton! I found the prices to have it shipped was reasonable a well worth it. We just had it for dinner tonight and it was amazing! They also take you too an island where they prepare the fish you caught for lunch. I thought this part was gonna be a little corny but it was awesome. The cook was amazing and the island was beautiful. And you are eating YOUR fish. This was my favorite trip. Big thank you to our guide Nick for giving us such a great day in Ketchikan.

Review 2 for Exclusive Alaska Guided Fishing & Wilderness Dining
This was an excellent fishing trip and our best excursion, even better than landing the helicopter on the icy blue glacier!
I caught a halibut and a pink salmon, my buddy caught two salmon; altogether my 4-man boat caught 5 pink salmon, 2 halibut, 2 turbot, 1 cod and 1 shark.
After catching too much, we took our skiff to a camp on the shore and cooked up the fish: the halibut was cook in a bouillabaisse, and the salmon was cooked on a grill on the campfire. It was all delicious; far better than the ship's fair.
It was a complete fishing/camping trip in under 6 hours! Very satisfying!
When I was planning my excursions, I had some misgivings which turned out not to be problems:
First, I was worried that I might get seasick on the ocean. Should I take dramamine? Well, I didn't and I'm glad. The boats they use are small low-set skiffs which don't contribute to the rocking that causes seasickness. Next, the trip is in waters protectd by land so its quite calm like a lake. The only uncomfortable part was the front of the boat smacking on the wake of other boats when we crossed them; but that was nothing much.
Next, I was a little worried about the idea that they were going to make 'stew' out of fish. This does not sound right to me, especially for salmon! Well, the salmon was cooked on the campfire like it ought, and the halibut bouillabaisse was more like a french spice preparation than stew. So, no worries about the fish being ruined in 'stew'! They do it up right.
Also, the tone of their blurb about 'taking only what you'll eat' worried me a bit. However, in fact we caught quite a bit more than we could eat: indeed we did throw the cod back because in Alaska, cod is a 'trash fish'! But we did keep all the salmon and halibut and what we didn't eat the guides themselves make use of: they gave us smoked salmon from the previous day as a snack while we were fishing. I also found out that in fact you could keep the fish you catch and send it home; however the minimum cost for this (at this time) was $100 so nobody ever does it, its just not cost effective.
Finally, a couple reviews here make some comments about the bottom-bobbing fishing style used for halibut. But, this is the style needed for catching halibut--which by the way is highly prized! Also, as you may have noticed, my group caught 5 salmon and we did this by trolling. So before you go, if you want to catch salmon, tell the guide up front and you can probably be put in a boat that is also rigged for trolling.
So really, this trip was perfect. Highly recommended!
