Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show

Southeast Alaska's rich logging history springs to life in this thrilling display of woodsman skills. The world's best lumberjacks, as seen on ESPN, go head-to-head, competing in exciting events such as chopping, sawing, relay races, log rolling, and more for the title of "Bull of the Woods." You'll even see the most death-defying event the sport has to offer, the breathtaking speed climb. Your colorful host will referee this rowdy competition and tell the tales of the often hostile work environment found in the Tongass Rainforest. You'll be comfortable in covered and heated grandstands that are just a short walk from the cruise ship pier. Experience the local wildlife . . . the Alaskan Logger. . . in this rip-roaring good time celebration of a bygone era. Note: Wheelchair access may be limited - for details, please consult your Shore Excursion staff before booking. June 2012. Definitely a family-friendly activity. Don't expect it to be a natural setting or an actual taping of the competitions you see on tv. It is a scripted show with two competing teams. Although, it was not what I expected, it was entertaining and fun to watch and get in the spirit of competition.

This was a truly amusing show. My husband and I were surprisingly entertained and the kids absolutely loved it. A must not miss for this port.

Great Show
This was a great show to see, very entertaining and we got to learn about lumberjacks and how they do their job. It was very impressive to see the different events, and is a great show for families to see.

Lumberjack= Yes, Totem Bight= So-So
The lumberjack show was really interesting and a family event. It lasts a little over one hour. This is suitable for any age. It is considered a light activitiy. You walk about 3/4 mile from the dock to the show right alone the water.Totem Bight Park was interesting, but the totems are not originals. The park is also very small - not what I was expecting. This is a light activity but does require some walking so wear comfortable shoes! Our tour guide was very informative. Make sure you bring a jacket if it is cold!
