Catamaran Sail & Snorkel

Enjoy three activities in one – snorkeling, sailing on a top-of-the-line catamaran, and dolphin watching. While onboard, you'll receive your snorkel gear and personalized instruction, then once in the water, look for rainbow-colored reef fish, endangered sea turtles, and elusive manta and eagle rays. The underwater topography is amazing, filled with corals, lava cliffs, valley arches and caves. After snorkeling, sit back and enjoy a full lunch and complimentary beer and wine as the tranquil light winds fill Kamanu's sails as she glides over Kona's brilliant blue waters.

Not what I expected
I was disappointed with this one. Previous snorkel trips in Hawaii have been much better. We weren't able to stop at the first sight the crew usually chooses because the water was too choppy and the second stop had some coral but just a few fish. After about 10 minutes we had seen what was to be seen. Lunch was provided, a soggy half sandwich a few pretzels. Soda was handed out sparingly in small cups. Fresh fruit was offered later but nothing to put it on and we were sailing at that point so it was hard to hold on to. The crew was not very personable and didn't really offer any information about the types of fish we might see. It was okay, but I've been on much better for the money.

really great snorkeling
This was a great excursion to see some amazing fish! The snorkeling was great! However the crew was rather annoying. Were able to see dolphins as well.

as promised
top-of-the-line catamaran is really a joke - this is the most rudimentary cat I have ever seen but fine for the job it does. The head (bathroom for you lubbers) is really bad. Saw dolphins as promised - the baby spinner dolphins are indeed too fast to photograph but a patient movie taker might get them. The woman who assisted on the boat was great - very funny but definitely in charge. We had not wind the day I went - saling is always at the mercy of the winds, so we motored out and back. Snorkling was nice. They sold really cheap reuseable underwater cameras - better prices than at home.

Kona warms the heart
Loved being able to get out on a catamaran and jumping into the warmer(compared to Molokini) waters to snorkel. Unfortunately the winds were up so we only went right outside the harbor so the fish and coral werent as good as had hoped for. However once they set sail it was really amazing to be right next to all the spinner dolphins that were swimming right next to us and jumping in the air...great photo ops. Also we were given lots of great food and drink as well. My husband and son did the deep sea fishing and although they had a blast they didnt get any food or drink on that excursion so I was quite pleased with all we did get to see and do on this catamaran adventure.
