Your guide selects the glacier trail best suited for the group's ability and the day's hiking conditions. Experience cascading waterfalls, serene meadows and quiet forest glens. During much of the hike, the views are panoramic, encompassing expanses of glacier-carved wilderness. A variety of animal species inhabit this place. Your guide will help you keep a look out for signs of animals and wildlife encountered along the trail; perhaps you'll discover a hidden porcupine or pause to listen to the songs of a hermit thrush. Whether you're interested in wildflowers or wildlife, scenery or activity, expect a refreshing outing with many opportunities for photography and lasting memories of Alaska.
Note: This excursion is suited for those who love to hike, and are physically able to do so for 3 1/2 hours. A fun way-finding activity is included for kids (and kids at heart) that includes a complimentary topographic trail map. Depending on the trail chosen for the day, you'll hike between four to six miles, with a possible elevation gain of 600 to 1,000 feet. Sturdy footgear is recommended. All tour participants on this excursion are eligible to enter to win cash prizes in the tour operator's 2012 Capture Juneau Photo Contest.
