This was an amazing excursion well worth the money. If you are going to put up the money to do a helicopter tour, do the extended trek. It was a great hike. As we saw the other excursion come and got we thought how disappointed we would have been to come all the way to the glacier and barely walk around.

June 2012. By far my favorite excursion of the cruies. It is pricey, but you are basically paying for the helicopter ride. After gearing up we had a 20-25 minute scenic helicopter ride out to the glacier. We then suited up some more and headed out for our three hour trek. The guides are knowledgeable and ready to help you see whatever you are interested in experiencing with your time on the glacier. My favorite part was climbing the ice front. Make sure to get pics of this. When you are satisfied with your trek you will go back to the landing zone and prepare for your flight back which is only about 5 minutes. Overall, if you are not active I would not recommend this as you will be too tired to enjoy and take in all the nature around you. Make sure you know what you want to see and do and be vocal. They provide a fruit and nut bar, water, and tissues all in a small backpack.
