This is a grand finale to a wonderful Hawaiian vacation and the easiest cruise disembarkation ever.
Our tour group disembarked from the ship later than other groups which allowed for a leisurely breakfast followed by a walk around the almost empty ship taking photographs and watching the going on in the busy Honolulu harbor. Tours meet on ship, exit by tour, then easily find luggage in its segregated area.
The bus tour literately takes you around the perimeter of the entire island. Overlooks for famous beaches, surfing locations, beautiful homes, fabulous views, blow hole, Dole Plantation (sorry not enough time for the maze) . My favorite view of the trip was the cove on the far side of Diamond Head , seen from above the sun bathers and snorkelers in the jewel blue waters is not to be missed. The best shopping of my entire trip was with the craftsmen at Dole Plantation.
Tour dropped us at airport about six PM. plenty of time to get through ticketing and security and still have a leisurely dinner before my 13 hour flight.
Our driver, Dwight, was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We were able to see the coast and learn much about the island's history. The Dole Plantation was very interesting. It was a nice climax to a busy week.
We have a yearly tradition of doing this tour at the end of our vacation. The tour bus picks you up right from the warehouse dock where your luggage is located around 9am on the day your disembark, they load your luggage on the bus, then take you around Oahu, and drop off you & your luggage off at the airport around 5-5:30 pm. It includes a delicious buffet lunch at Kualoa Ranch. Other stops include Hanuama Bay, Halona Blow Hole, Aloha Tropical Farms (get sample of coffee & macadamia nuts), Sunset Beach (Bonzai Pipeline at north shore where competition surfing occurs in winter), and Dole Plantation. Hre's a pic of a surfer in the at Bonzai Pipeline at north shore (look for little dot in the surf). The waves were about 20 feet & surf conditions were dangerous.
