Porvoo & Helsinki Highlights
After an approximately one hour ride along a picturesque road, you'll stop at the Old Bridge for a magnificent view of Porvoo's quaint Old Quarter. Porvoo is the second-oldest town in Finland, dating back to 1346. In this popular artists' center you'll enjoy a walk along cobblestone streets lined with colorful wooden houses. Enjoy some time to explore Porvoo on your own, perhaps browsing the many artisan and handicraft shops, before your short drive to Haikko Manor, where you'll stop for lunch. After lunch, ride back to Helsinki for a tour of the city which includes a visit to Temppeliaukio Rock Church, Sibelius Park and Senate Square. You'll also see Market Square, the Uspenski Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, and many other city highlights.
Note: Order of sights might vary. Guides are not allowed to escort large groups through churches while service is in progress. In this instance the guide will describe the church from the outside. We cannot guarantee entry if services are being held. Due to new traffic restrictions, buses will no longer be allowed to drive nearby the rock church; therefore, there will be a 20 minute walk to and from the church (approximately 1,600 feet). Guests must be able to perform substantial walks over uneven surfaces.

Don't Even Consider It
Porvoo is quaint; however, it is not worth spending 2 1/2 hours to drive there and back for lunch.
Helsinki is the least interesting city on the cruise itinerary.
What a waste of time and money!!!!!

PREPARE FOR UNEXPECTED
This was a most pleasant excursion when you believe that you will not be able to see much of Helsinki in a day. Our first stop was the quant ancient village of Porvoo. The little wooden houses have been converted into shopping outlets. The 'cathedral' was interesting but we did not go into the museum as there was a charge and our time was limited. Walking around the shops was enjoyable and do not forget to try the chocolate samples - very nice indeed. It was then onto lunch in a most beautiful manor - silver service of very good food. After lunch we managed to have a short stroll though the beautiful gardens. Then we saw the unusual Sibelius memorial which we like very much and then onto the Church in a Rock. This church is naturally unbelievable and we were fortunate to hear a choir rehearsal. So if you go to Helsinki this day out will give you much pleasure.

Not Good Value
We were talked into this excursion with great expectations of Porvoo. The tour guide was poor and we did not see much. We were dropped off at Porvoo to view it's 2 cobbled streets and church. No real commentary. The ensuing lunch was good, but then the highlights of Helsinki was a waste of time. Again we were dropped off at a square and told where a gift shop was and that was it.

Great day out
Depite the cool, damp weather we enjoyed this day out. We had an entertaining guide who took us to the manor in Porvoo where we had cake and coffee, looked at the horses then on to Porvoo with its cobbled streets and interesting shops. There was a sweetshop where you could sample everything free of charge - chocolate orange drops were lovely, when it began to rain we went into the cafe and had more cake and coffee and looked at photos of Romanov family and other memorabilia of Russian Tsars.
