Highlights, Shopping & Beach
This is a good opportunity to discover the city of Freeport. Your guide will take you through the industrial, residential and commercial areas of the city, giving you the history and culture of the island and its people. A short stay is recommended in the downtown area where you'll see the local conch vendors performing their task of preparing a Bahamian conch dish. You'll have a chance to shop in Port Lucaya marketplace, stop in the casino, stroll through the streets and even visit one of the most beautiful beaches on the island where you can purchase lunch. Note: Liquor can be purchased at duty-free prices. Towels and beach chairs can be rented at an additional price at the beach stop. The beach portion of the tour will be added as of 5/17/11.

Not really worth it
Although the tour guide was informative, the excursion itself was disappointing. HIghlights of the island pointed out to us? Subway sandwich shop, post office, grocery store, etc. We spent way too much time at a straw market that was less than 1/2 block long and too little time at an outdoor "mall."

very educational
me and my family really enjoyed this excursion,
the driver max was very knowledgeable and full of humor. there was never a dull moment. we were taken to different ares of freeport, bahamas and was able to taste their conch fritters and grilled conch. it was an excursion
well worth it.

Good overall tour of Island

We took this tour at the end of 2009, at the height of the recession. We found ourselves virtually alone at hotel areas, casino and beaches. We were the only cruise ship in port that day, so it was just our group. It was somewhat depressing to see everything empty but we were able to take our time and enjoy everything. The few salespeople were very low-key and didn't try to mob us. The tour itself gives a good overall view of the island, and was very informative, with ample time at each stop.
