Bahamas Jeep® Safari

See the best of the vibrant Grand Bahama Island on this adventurous Jeep® tour. A short bus ride from the pier will take you to your awaiting Jeep®. Your adventure begins as you hop into your Jeep® and drive off, on the left side of the road, following British tradition. En route to your first stop you'll see Taino Beach, a popular hangout, Sanctuary Bay where the dolphins live, and a picturesque community which is a replica of the original New Plymouth homes of the early settlers. During the stop on Casuarina Bridge, your guide will inform you about Freeport's unique history and its founder, Mr. Wallace Groves. Your adventure continues with the off-road segment through Grand Bahamas' pine forest over some of the island's highest ridges. Enjoy a short hike to an inland Blue Hole and then get back in your Jeep®. Afterwards, refresh yourself with a dip in the crystal-clear waters on a beautiful beach and enjoy a native light snack. Note: Participants must be at least 12 years of age. Guests wishing to drive must be at least 25 years of age and present a valid driver's license. Four guests per Jeep®; Jeeps® have manual or automatic transmission. Swimsuit, towel, camera, sunscreen, and strap sandals or closed-toe comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Jeep® will travel on unpaved roads at times and the ride will be bumpy. This excursion is not recommended for pregnant women or guests with back/neck injuries. Guests must sign a waiver release form.

Cruised in January 2013. The following is the only reason I could not give it 5 stars. I was really looking forward to this tour because of the Blue Hole. I have always wanted to see one. Unfortunately they no longer go there. The tour guide, Tony, said they have not gone their in a long time. Also they do not go to Sanctuary Bay either. Norwegian needs to contact the tour company and update their description of this excursion so no one else will be as disappointed as I was. The rest of the tour was very informative for people who love history and the beaches are beautiful. Especially Chloe's Point. But there is no hiking at all so you do not need to worry if walking is an issue for you. No long walks at all.

Great Time
Great excursion due to the variety of sites and activities. We had lunch at the Groves, we got to learn about the history of the island and had beach time as well. Joanna was great guide. She was extremely knowledgeable about the development of the island. Hot day but we could always find shade. We didn't see the Blue Hole but still great time. Must of the travel was on paved road and quite pleasant.

Fun!!
This was a fun way to see the island! Started off in a air conditioned bus to get to the jeeps. They do have some automatic and some manual, and you go in a group of 4. Thankfully, we found a couple who did NOT want to drive at all, so my husband drove the whole time. All the jeeps have radios and the tour guide was fun, educational, and hilarious. There was also lots of jokes among the drivers on the radio which was fun. We went to about 4 places where you got out to look around, two of those stops were for an hour, one at the Garden of the Groves (plenty of time to see everything) for the included lunch and sight-seeing, and then at the beach. Our only complaint was the we never went over 30mph the whole time. It could be a liability or insurance thing, but we were hoping for a little more adventurous jeep driving.
