Certified Scuba Two-tank Dive

Until now, diving Costa Maya has been a closely kept secret and is one of the most pristine dive destinations in the Caribbean. Your excursion begins with a short ride through the quaint town of Mahahual to an eco-friendly dive center. Here you'll be split up into small groups, gather your gear and board one of our dive boats. You'll be diving on the spectacular Meso-American Barrier reef, where the reef formations are massive and form huge swim-throughs and ledges. This breathtaking reef is also known for its beautiful corals and exotic marine life. Common marine life includes sea turtles, lobsters, stingrays, nurse sharks, dolphin and an endless variety of tropical reef fish. After your dive excursion you may choose to return to your ship or stay and experience the local culture and beautiful beaches of Mahahual. Once a fishing village, Mahahual is now a small town thriving with wonderful beachfront shops, restaurants, bars, arts and crafts booths, and more. Note: Participants must be at least 10 years of age, weigh no more than 375 lbs., be in good health and present a certification card. Completion of a waiver is required. If you choose to stay in Mahahual after the dive, you are responsible for your transportation back to your ship. Due to restrictions by the Dive Provider, any Scuba participants currently taking any medication or with a previous medical condition should bring a note from their primary physician stating that they are medically cleared to participate on a Scuba excursion. My first dive after being certified!
My son and I were certified this fall and this was out first 'real' dive ever! We had a fantastic time. I was a little nervous being a new diver, but the staff was amazing and put me right at ease. The predive safety review was excellent and thorough. Our divemaster (Lauren? I think) was the best. The equipment was new and well maintained. All in all, it was a wonderful first experience. Oh, and the reef was fantastic - lobsters, lion fish and turtles, oh my! Awesome time!

We dove in Roatan and Belize as well as Costa Maya. Dream Time Diving in Costa Maya had the best service of the three. We did an afternoon dive and were driven to the small town of Mahahual in an air conditioned bus. We were given a little history on the way. Once there we were quickly set up with equipment that we never once had to carry ourselves and they split us up across three dive boats. They were extremely organized and there was plenty of room on the boat. Being able to walk from the sand to the dive boat was just beautiful. The ride to the reef is maybe 10 minutes at most. We were in a groups of no more than 5 with 2 dive masters. The back roll entry was a breeze and getting back in the boat was easy as well. They had snacks during the short service interval and we were back in the water again. It definitely felt like we spent more time in the water than on the boat. Once we were done they had a nice area to rinse gear before they sent you back to the boat. Dive quality wise it just didn't compare to Roatan or Belize for me, but others on the boat loved it. There was less wildlife and the dives were a little on the shallow side, but the swim through tunnels and trenches were nice. The dive masters were excellent. Of the three dives I would say this was the best dive for newbie or once a year divers. There was help every step of the way if you needed it.
