Disappointed
We chose this excursion after enjoying snorkeling in Roatan. We were very disappointed. There was trash along the entire drive to the beach and it was clear it hadn't been cleaned in months, if not years. Then, there was a ton of trash in the water along the beach. There were several people working at the beach who were just standing around most of the time, there is no reason they couldn't have picked the trash out of the water. After wading through the trash, my aqua scooter had very little power so they had to exchange it out. Then my husband's died after about 10 minutes and rather than give him another one, he had to go without. The reefs were beautiful and filled with fish but the waves were strong and you really needed a scooter so you didn't get pushed into the coral. After snorkeling, they offered food at the beach (hot dogs and nachos) but it was terrible. The cheese sauce for the nachos was watery and gross. Overall we were very disappointed.

power snorkel
I will premise my review by saying I probably would have enjoyed this more if it had been warmer, but it was a chilly morning to be in the water. Also, my equipment quit working twice, but I was quickly given new ones by a helper in a nearby canoe.
Our guide, Juan, was great and super nice. It was fun being pulled around in the water by the Aqua Scooter and a good option for someone who is not the best swimmer. I think the activity would be best suited for adults and kids at least in upper elementary school.
The bus ride was in an open sided vehicle and took about an hour. It was very bumpy at some points (and cold, I might add).
Unfortunately, I think we would have enjoyed this excursion a lot more if it had been a hot day, but it was uncommonly cold.

I had injured my back, so The power scooters were an aid to help me get along. Not only was it beneficial, the water and snorkeling helped me so much that I went on a longer guided snorkel.
The guides here were very nice and so helpful. Highly recommend if you are not into deep water snorkeling and yet want to snorkel. Saw lots of fish and coral. I took a few pics of the quides and the location

Great for novice snorklers!
I enjoyed this excursion more than my husband. I am not a pro swimmer or snorkeler by any means and I am also a smoker so I was concerned about breathing with the tube. I had NO problems at all. My husband is a great swimmer with lots of scuba and snorkeling experience. His trouble was with his mask. He couldn't get a good seal because of his mustache. I enjoyed the guides, Jose and Jorge. They were very informative about the equipment. Handling the power snorkels was very easy in the water. They were lots of fun too! We saw all kinds of colorful fish and even a giant lobster! If you decide to use an underwater camera make sure you have it ready to go because right after the equipment instruction, it's off to the water and you must stay with the group. The beach was very secluded and it's a 30 minute bumpy open-air bus ride from the dock. I was more shocked at the town of Costa Maya because it is very poor and you can tell that investors came in some years ago and tried to start neighborhoods but apparently the money dried up because they stopped mid-project. The beach was very pretty and the weather was perfect! Bring a snack because all you'll get there is nachos. We brought beef jerky and trail mix. They will sell you soft drinks and margaritas; the bottled water is free. We also brought our own snorkeling equipment.
