Segway Adventure & Beach

It's new, it's cool, and it's fun! The Segway is the first of its kind, a self-balanced personal transportation device; you'll be amazed at how easy it is to operate. Don't miss the extraordinary experience of gliding through the Costa Maya town by Segway. You'll receive an introduction and great orientation followed by one to one fun training; once you are confident with your Segway you'll ride along the beach front of this tourist town of the Mexican Caribbean. Enjoy the best views of the heart of Costa Maya while discovering the local flavor of this charming town. A refreshment stop on route will allow you to take a break to admire the stunning blue waters. Step on and continue riding smoothly towards the main commercial center where you'll have time for shopping. Just before heading back to your ship you'll enjoy a relaxing time at one of the nicest beach clubs in the area; sip a cool beverage, swim in the ocean or just lay down at the beach. Taxi transportation will take you back to the pier at the time of your preference. Note: Participants must be at least 12 years of age and weigh between 100 lbs. to 250 lbs. Guests with pre-existing neck, back, knee and/or shoulder injuries, cardiac conditions, epilepsy, or other heart or respiratory conditions may not want to participate in this tour.

What a blast!
A perfect excursion for a bit of adventure and challenge. While operating a segway is not as easy as it looks, after some excellent instruction you are ready to go. Our family of four, including a 13 year old and 14 year old, all had a great time operating our own segway through the town. The kids especially enjoyed being in control of their own vehicle. The staff was excellent (thanks Edgar for the great instruction!) We had a great lunch stop with excellent food and a very long time to relax on a quiet beach. I also enjoyed the shopping at the local artisan market. This excursion wasa good mix of adventure, excitement, relaxing and culture. I would highly reccommend this excursion.

Best excursion of our entire trip
My husband and I decided to do the segway adventure in Costa Maya. We had never done this before and so we thought it would be fun to try. Never did we realize how much we would love this. You start by putting on protective gear and practicing in a large parking lot. The guides are extremely patient and helpful. Once everyone gets the hang of the segway...off you go. We traveled through the country side and come to the most beautiful beach you have ever seen. A brief stop at the beach to look at the ships in the distance. Away we went again riding the segways along the beach. Fantastic ocean views the whole time. We stopped for a 15 minute beach break and off we went again. After riding for another 15 minutes or so we were finished on the segways. We were given a refreshing juice that was very good. We spent more time on the beach and then they provided transportation back to the port. It was an AWESOME day. I would do it again anytime!

Segway
My only suggestion would be to make us aware of where our bags are, especially the drinking water, when we make a stop for shopping. The staff was excellent with training and making us feel comfortable. The beach was clean and perfect! Taxi was quickly accessible to take us back to port.

Great Fun
My wife and I had never rode on segways so we thought we'd try it. I was concerned as the weight limit was 250lbs. I am 6'1" and about 255. Probably 260 after all the food and my personal effects that I carried on me. When I arrived there were a few people that looked 275+ so don't let the weight limit concern you too much. I don't recall the handle bars being adjustable. If I were 6'3:" I may have been uncomfortable as I would have had to slump over to balance and that would have been uncomfortable.
Edgar was our guide and he was great. There were about 10 people in our party which the instructors considered a large group. Of 10 maybe 3-4 had prior experience. The large crowd was good as the instructors took plenty of time with each person to make sure they were comfortable on the segway. While they were teaching others those who had been taught had plenty of time to practice. Then we hit the streets, stopped to get pictures and then rode on concrete at the beach. It was a great breeze while riding. You will get protective gear.

Had a BLAST!
My wife and I really enjoyed this excursion. The Segway’s are in great condition. Our guides could not have more helpful in training us in using the Segway’s. In 5 minutes anyone can be a pro on these machines. A little more cultural/education about the area would have been nice. A very good time.

Loads of fun
My husband and I booked the Segway Adventure on the advice of a friend and we were not disappointed. What a great way to see the local countryside and people. Our guides, Bella and Reggie, were super friendly and explained the operation of the segway in an easy to understand manner. It was a fun way to spend time exploring Costa Maya. Just wish we could have ridden the segways longer! We did enjoy making new friends while on our "beach time" at Senor Frogs.
