Airboat Adventure & Belize City Tour
Enjoy a narrated city tour highlighting the history of Belize, from its founding by shipwrecked British sailors in 1683. Pass by St. John's Cathedral and other interesting sites. Just outside the city, under a Mayan thatched palapa longhouse, you'll receive an orientation and safety briefing before boarding a 450-hp airboat. Travel to the beautiful Almond Hill Lagoon where you find the manatee grazing grounds. Upon reaching your destination, you'll quietly drift, keeping a lookout for the docile manatees that utilize the area. Pass through Indian Creek onto the pristine marsh to see beautiful water lilies, many colors and varieties of wading birds, turtles and maybe even a crocodile.
Note: Participants must be at least 5 years of age and weigh no more than 290 lbs.

Getting to know Belize
If you have never been to Belize like us then this is a great way to get a basic feel for what the country of Belize is like. You take a tour of the town and with the guide we had, it was very informational and fun, granted there are depressed parts of town but, this is the beauty of the tour which is to learn about this country. You are then taken outside of town to begin your airboat adventure which is very fun, if nothing else, just the boat ride is a blast. We did not see any manatees or crocidiles nor was much time spent looking for them, however, if you enjoy seeing birds then this excursion is a must as there are so many diiferent species to see. One note, the sun was not out so it was very nice but, if the sun is out be prepared with sunscreen (not sure about bugs). You can't go wrong with this tour.

Nice Day
This was a nice day. We really enjoyed the city tour. It was interesting to see where people live and work. Our guide was great. I was most impressed with our bus driver. Wow...he navigated our huge bus through very tight streets. The air boat tour was fun but we felt it was rushed. We were also disappointed that the tour guide wanted to joy ride on the air boat instead of focus on the birds and animals. All birds were scared off as the boat came zooming toward them. We really didn't see much for wildlife which was a disappointment. It was beautiful and relaxing and we are happy we did the trip.

Enjoyed the day
The guide on the city tour was GREAT. She had so much information for us. Really learned a lot. The air boat was a blast too. The guide was GREAT showing us all the different birds. And telling us about the swamp. Driver was great, spinning circles, weeeeeee.

Great for All Ages!
My husband and I took our three children on this tour, and it was fantastic. There were folks of all ages who seemed to enjoy this activity. It's not too long, you get a great tour of the entire city and an adventure on an air boat. It's educational and fun. We didn't see any manatees, but saw one gator and many different species of birds.

You tender in to this town and the little port shopping area is wonderful. No one is pushy here. Stop in the Wet Lizard and the chocolate factory as you wait for your tour. Hubby loved the Belize beer. Stop at the little vendor area just outside the gate for some local folks. A full size bus picks you up for the tour right outside this gate. Our tour guide was nice and offered a lot of historic and current information as we drove through the newer section of town. Once out of town it was a 15-20 min drive to air boat place. The staff here is friendly and very organized. Bathroom area. Beverages for sale. There is a local crocodile who hangs around and they feed so you can see one up front and CLOSE. The staff keeps you entertained while the organize you in groups for the air boats and give you safety instructions. 15 or so people can ride on each boat so large groups can stay together. There is a driver and a guide with you. You zip along the water, through little water alleys and into large pond areas and small secluded grottos. There are birds EVERYWHERE. All kinds and the guides are very good with pointing them out and they have a full color bird ID card for you to use.No crocodiles or manatees but it was neat floating where they hang out and watching for them. We zipped along, flying across the water and sliding into turns. What fun. Too soon is was back to the dock and back on the bus. A different guide on the way back and through a poorer section of town and the old port area. Lots of interesting details shared by the guide. At one point the bus driver stopped and backed up to point out a BIG orange iguana in the top of a nearby tree and two smaller ones racing across a wall by the bus. These little things make the experience special. Don't do this tour if you HAVE to see the manatees or crocodiles. You will most likely be disappointed. But if you want local information, nature, birds, great scenery and fun ride we highly recommend this excursion. Oh yeah - DO NOT wear dangling earrings as you have to wear ear protection on the air boat and they pinch when the ear things are on unless you tuck them up inside.

Easy Great Day
Wow! What an easy great day it was on this excursion. If you are looking for an excursion that is informative, fun, relaxing, and educational and not too long and tiring this one is for you. Although Belize City is not full of cultural sites to see, the city tour along the bus was very informative about what the city did have and about life in Belize City and the guide was very friendly. Likewise the airboat tour staff was very friendly, fun, and informative about birds, crocodiles, etc. and the local wildlife. We did see a couple of crocodiles and numerous birds on the ride. Not to mention I had never rode in an airboat, and it was quite fun even on its own. It was also large enough and stable enough for a pleasant ride. All in all I enjoyed a very relaxing and pleasant day and was not too tired when I got back to the ship.
