This complete tour of Cairo and Luxor, will be the Ultimate experience a visitor can have in 2 days and 1 night. You'll fly to Luxor and see the open-air museum of sites and spend the night in this ancient city. On your second day, you'll fly to Cairo where you'll visit the major sites before heading back to your ship in Alexandria.
DAY 1: You'll depart from the pier for Alexandria's airport for your chartered flight to Luxor. An hour and half away, Luxor amasses one third of the world's antiquities within its boundaries. Visit the greatest place of worship in history, the breathtaking Karnak Temple with its unique Hypostyle hall, sacred lake and avenue of the Sphinxes. After lunch drive across the Nile to its West Bank where the Valley of the Kings is situated. You'll visit three of the most impressive tombs and stop for photographs at the famous statues of Amenophis III, also known as the Colossi of Memnon. Back on the East Bank, visit Luxor Temple with its graceful, well-preserved architecture that is distinguished by many different gods and cultures that have resided here. Continue to the mummification museum where the medical achievements and process of embalming practiced almost 4,500 thousand years ago will amaze you. The last stop for the day will be at a Papyrus Institute where the procedure of manufacturing the oldest paper in the world, an art discovered by the Ancient Egyptians, will be demonstrated and time for souvenir shopping will be allowed before checking in to your hotel for the night and to enjoy dinner.
DAY 2: After breakfast at the hotel, you'll board your flight to Cairo. On arrival in Cairo, you'll go by motorcoach to the National Archaeological Museum to acquaint yourself with Egypt's ancient history spanning a period of 50 centuries. The Museum houses the richest collection of Egyptian Antiquities including the magnificent Tutankhamun collection. After lunch, you'll visit the only remaining wonder of the ancient world, the Pyramids of Giza and their guardian, the mysterious Sphinx.
Note: Visitors must go through two security check points before visiting the Cairo Museum. All meals and overnight accommodations are included. The drive from Cairo to Alexandria takes approximately 3 hours. This tour involves chartered flights, so a minimum number of passengers is required in order to operate. Cameras are not permitted in the tombs site in the Valley of the Kings, nor in the museums. TSA regulations apply for carry-on luggage on both flights. Tour is non-refundable once onboard. There is approximately 1 1/4 miles of walking while on tour and a gravel terrain at the Valley of Kings and Pyramids of Giza site.
